Let's consider the shape of time.
For some, time is a circle, the shape of a clock or watch. Others may see time as a page of squares on a calendar. Or, perhaps two stacked triangles, one inverted, like an hourglass. A path also indicates the passage of time. As do the three dots of an ellipsis... What shape does time take for you?
Here's another digital postcard filled with 3 things related to Visual IP*. It's designed to quickly inform, then get you on your way. In each issue you'll find an inspiring quote, an image, and a link to an essay or resource.

Quote

"Time is a very misleading thing. All there is ever, is the now. We can gain experience from the past, but we can't relive it; and we can hope for the future, but we don't know if there is one.”
— George Harrison

Every 1 minute of the Day on the Internet graphic

We are awash in data. This infographic from Domo.com and Visual Capitalist shows how much digital data is created or consumed every minute on the Internet. This global digital network now reaches more than 6 billion people, representing 65% of the world's population. And 92.6% are accessing it from mobile devices!

The statistics are dizzying. Every digital minute there are 5.7 million Google searches, 65,000 Instagram photos shared, nearly 700,000 hours of YouTube videos streamed, and 12 million iMessages sent.

The design of this graphic presents all this information in a radial image, calling to mind a clock (with 20 segments instead of 24, however). The inner dial is filled with icons we recognize in our daily Internet use, from the magnifying glass for Google searches to the playback icon for Netflix. It's an impressive amount of data, engagingly presented.

Icons and More Icons: The Noun Project

Home page of the Noun Project
For this issue, I'm sharing a favorite visual resource. The Noun Project calls itself "the most comprehensive icon collection in the world." It is home to more than 3 million icons from designers in more than 120 countries.

Basic icon downloads are free, and subscriptions allow you to edit, license, and share — as well as support the designers.

If you're looking for a specific icon, or simply inspiration when you're creating a work of Visual IP, The Noun Project is a great place to start your search.
That wraps up another issue. Thanks to the readers who reached out after my last issue announcing this new format. If you have an idea you'd like me to address, ping me — I welcome your comments, favorite visuals, and other observations about this crazy time we're living in. Please forward to others you think might enjoy the ideas and resources.

Until next time: Make something happen,
Terri
