Dear Library Community,

What do you like to read this time of year? When we've got time, we like to curl up with a cozy mystery or a holiday novel, and we've got plenty available at the library. For your holiday gift needs, we've got baking and craft books if you're making your own presents this year. If you're into sustainable giving, stop by the Friends bookstore, where you'll find gently-used books, CDs, DVDs, and more for sale--plus handmade cards! If you're giving the gift of time, check out our board game collection for a fun family activity.

We're excited to share our newest collection: wifi hotspots! If you've got a decent cell signal but no internet access at home, you can check out one of our hotspots and generate a personal wifi network to use with your devices. See below for all the details.

If you're participating in the 2021 Siuslaw Reading Challenge, don't forget to turn in your completed game board by January 10 to enter our grand prize drawing. And watch this space next month for our 2022 challenge. We've got more fun things coming up for the next year!

Happy holidays from all of us here at Siuslaw Public Library!
December Holidays
The library will have special holiday hours this month:
Friday, December 24: 11 AM - 12 PM
Saturday, December 25: closed
Friday, December 31: 11 AM - 12 PM
Saturday, January 1: closed
Check Out Our New Wifi Hotspots!
We have a new collection of wifi hotspots available for one-week patron checkout. These handy portable devices will generate a personal wifi network that allows you to use your own tablet, computer, or phone online without other internet service. Stop by the circulation desk for more information. You'll need to complete an agreement and get some basic training before you can check one out. You must have a good cell signal at home or wherever you're planning to use the hotspot.
Vote for Best Books of 2021
Did you read some great books this year? We're looking for nominations for Kevin's annual Best Books program. Fill out this quick survey and let us know your favorite 2021 titles in fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, YA, children's, and more!

Nominations are due Friday, January 14. We'll be scheduling the Best Books program for February or March, and it may be virtual, in-person, or both. Watch this space for more information!
Siuslaw Reading Challenge 2021
Don't forget to turn in your completed 2021 reading challenge game board by Monday, January 10, to enter the grand prize drawing! Just drop it off at the reference desk.

See the full details and list of themes on our website: https://www.siuslawlibrary.info/reading-challenge.

December Spotlight: This month we're highlighting all things to watch and listen to. We've got movies and TV shows on DVD and BluRay, music CDs in all genres, audiobooks on CD, and even digital audiobooks through our website. Check out our display when you stop by the library.
Book Brunch
Thursday, December 9, 10:30 AM

Join us for our last book show-and-tell of the year. There's no required reading this month, so it's a great time to check out our book club!

Contact ref@siuslawlibrary.org or call 541-997-3132 to get the required Zoom meeting information. See you there!
Tables for Sale!
We've recently purchased new tables for the Bromley Room, and the Friends of Siuslaw Public Library have several of the older folding tables for sale (pictured). They are sturdy with metal legs, and would be great for crafting, hobbies, puzzles, or holiday dinner guests. Prices are $50 or best offer per table. All proceeds benefit the library. If you're interested, contact Cathy at 541-997-1042.
Check Out the Bookstore
The Friends of Siuslaw Public Library bookstore is now open in Florence! Stop by during open library hours and peruse the selection of used books, CDs, DVDs, and more. We've even got handmade cards for sale. All proceeds go to the library.

Our hold pickup and kids' activity carts have moved to the area next to the copier (straight ahead as you enter the library).

At this time, we're still not accepting donated materials, but we will let you know as soon as we can take them again. Thank you!
