Progress Reports for 2nd Module

Our second module of this semester ended at the end of October and you should have already received a narrative progress report reflecting on your scholar’s work. These reports showcase your scholar’s strengths and areas that can be improved upon. Please take some time to discuss them with your scholar and as always, feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions.

Our WASC Accreditation team will be virtually visiting our school and our classrooms beginning Monday, November 29. We are excited to be working on our accreditation and to host them at MSS. The team is very interested in seeing what our scholars are learning, so they will be visiting classrooms to spend some time observing our scholars and our subject matter experts in action.

Picture Day!

Local photographer, Becky Ruppel, will be taking pictures of our students on Friday, December 3 at 10:00. The pictures will be taken outdoors, weather permitting. Becky will put her photos online for parents to view and select images for purchase. Photos will be available just in time for the holidays!

Academic Calendar

Did you know that you can reference the MSS academic calendar on our website? Our academic calendar is a great tool as you look forward to planning family events. We follow the College of San Mateo calendar with a few slight changes, such as a longer Thanksgiving break.

As we celebrate Thanksgiving with our families, MSS will not be holding classes November 22-26. The last day of classes for this semester will be Friday, December 17.

A is for Adaptable

ADVOCATES is the acronym for our student learner outcomes and we have been working with our students so they all understand the meaning behind each of the letters in the ADVOCATES acronym. Our best fit MSS students are adaptable.

Best Fit Kids develop the ability to adapt and change to improve their education, lives, and the lives of others in their communities, including their families, at school, and within their local community. These kids meet challenges with an open heart and mind in order to build a better future for themselves and the world. They seek solutions to problems and use their education to guide their critical thinking skills exploring innovative and creative solutions to life problems they encounter.

Tips for a Best Fit Student

We have posted some tips to help guide our scholars in how to be a best fit student. These tips communicate our expectations for our students and provide them with an understanding of what it takes to be a student who is truly part of a learning team. This month we have been focused on Tip #4: Come to class on time with your stuff. Your team is waiting for you. Thank you for helping to get your students to school on time!
