Dear People of Hope,
Next-next week, Sunday November 28, is the beginning of Advent; we will have special elements in worship and throughout the week to anticipate and prepare for Christmas. Watch for more details in upcoming weeks, but here is a quick overview:
At morning worship on November 28, we will hear from guest preacher Pastor Franklin Morales from La Sagrada Familia Lutheran Church in Langley Park.
Saturday December 11, families and anyone interested is invited to an Advent Petting Zoo, remembering that Jesus was born among animals (time TBD).
Wednesday evenings at 6pm we join with All Saints Lutheran Church in Bowie (by zoom) for a book study on "Difficult Words of Jesus." This is a 6-week study, including 2 weeks in January.
As we approach Christmas, Hope will host an evening Longest Night worship service, for prayer and reflection, acknowledging the pain and grief that this season can hold (date TBD).
Friday December 24, at 7:30pm we will gather in person and online for a Christmas Eve worship service with candle light and carols.
Sunday December 26, at 10:30am we gather for worship with lessons and carols, hearing and singing the Christmas story.
Join us for any or all of these events, as we prepare for and anticipate the birth of baby Jesus at Christmas, and Christ's return in glory.

ps - Worship at Hope now includes congregational singing and indoor communion. Zoom worship continues for those who prefer an online option. Starting December 5, we'll be merging technology with Living Water SDA Church, and we expect our zoom experience will improve significantly.
Congregational Meeting
THIS Sunday November 21, 1:30pm by zoom
Hope members meet this Sunday for our regular Congregational Meeting. Come to hear updates about Hope's mission and ministry. Elect new council members and other leaders. Discuss and vote to approve the 2022 Mission Spending Plan (budget), and hear property updates. Members have received a paper letter in their mailbox, but anyone is welcome to join; simply save the date and zoom information from here. See many of you there.
We apologize that the January meeting minutes in the paper mailing were incorrectly from the January council meeting, not the January congregational meeting. We will re-send these minutes and plan to approve them at the January 2022 meeting to give people proper time to review the minutes.
Each fall at Hope there is a special opportunity to give money, locally, regionally and beyond. Give locally to Refugee Resettlement as Hope prepares to support a family arriving from Afghanistan. Give regionally to Puerto Rico, where Hope and Humble Walk will be traveling this winter. Give internationally to Earthquake Relief in Haiti (through Lutheran Disaster Response).
You may put checks or envelopes in the offering basket or mail them to Hope. You may also give online through our regular online giving link (www.hopecp.org). You may give to a specific organization; unspecified donations will be divided equally among the three.
