Staying here over winter break? Sign up for break housing!

There's no extra charge for break housing -- just sign up to let us know you're on campus.

Winter break is approaching fast! As you make your plans for the break between terms, remember you're welcome to stay on campus for part or all of winter break. Here are a few things to know:

  1. There are no extra fees to stay on campus between terms, and there will be UHDS dining open every day, even on holidays.
  2. Winter break officially begins at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10 and ends at 9 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 2. If you'll be on campus for any part of the break you'll need to sign up for break housing. It helps us staff buildings and provide services appropriately.
  3. You can sign up for break housing via MyUHDS starting tomorrow, Wednesday, Nov. 24. The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, Dec. 8.

Have winter break housing questions? Connect with your hall staff or contact our office.

Take the stress out of finals

As you prepare for finals, it's easy to get stressed. Here are three ways to help defuse it:

Visit your ALA. Have you met your building's Academic Learning Assistant? This hall staff member is an experienced fellow Beav who can give you study tips, help you find study groups, and fill you in on the academic resources available on campus. If you don't know who your building's ALA is, ask your RA or email UHDS and we'll connect you.

De-stress. Schedule time for things that help your mind let go. Check out a game or a puzzle from your hall's front desk and grab some of your floor-mates for a study break. Walk to the covered bridge and back. Or join a BEavers Here Now Guided Meditation on Nov. 24, Nov. 29 or Dec. 1, to help center your thoughts.

Plan ahead. All-night study sessions can leave you feeling even more stressed than you were before. Instead, tap into the Academic Success Center's Learning Corner for strategies on time management, test taking and more, and start making your study plan.
