Fresh. Local. TOGETHER.

Cultivating Gratitude
11.18.21
Dear Market Friends and Fans,

As we come to the end of our 2021 market season in the middle of Gratitude Month and approaching Thanksgiving, it seems fitting to offer thanks to everyone who has had a role in the Bethlehem Farmers' Market this year.

Thank you, Lehigh University. Thank you, City of Bethlehem. Thank you, Vendors. Thank you, Customers. Thank you, Musicians. Thank you, Sponsors. We are grateful for the many hands that have a part in making our market vibrant and satisfying every Thursday throughout the season.

We hope you'll join us one last time to enjoy a pleasant November day--60 degrees!--at Farrington Square. Many vendors are featuring items to add local flavor to your Thanksgiving feast or for unique gift-giving over the coming holidays. Check out the adorable Grinch soaps from Lathers & Lotions. Pick up some snacks for your favorite doggo from Bizzle's Bites. Stuff stockings with zesty jerky from Matt-Hat Jerky, and don't forget to stock up on your favorite flavors of peanut butter from Peanut Butter-n-More! Don't forget to treat yourself: Bread Fermented will be on hand with sourdough loaves and pastries, Stehly's will be stocked with kiffles, and Bam's Carrot Cakes will have their jars full of goodness! Quench your thirst and boost your health with a bottle of 'booch from Lehigh Valley Kombucha!

The weather looks promising for outdoor dining, too. Grab lunch from the BlendLife truck--creamy tomato soup (vegan) is on the menu along with smoothies and grilled sandwiches--or get a pastie or other sweet or savory goodies from Stehly's Bakery, and find a sunny spot to enjoy the music. Cellist Dan Kassel will be on hand to entertain and play us out.

As always, we appreciate your business. Grab a friend and your reusable shopping bag* and meet us at the market!

If you have ideas to share or comments or questions about the Bethlehem Farmers' Market, feel free to drop us a line.

*Need a reusable shopping bag to carry your farmers market purchases? Stop by the market welcome table and pick up a brand new purple bag, courtesy of our market sponsor, RCN!

Pledge to Conserve Energy!
Throughout November, the Office of Sustainability challenges members of the Lehigh community to be conscious of our energy-consumption behaviors, to commit to adopting new energy-saving behaviors, and to engage with peers and coworkers on the topic of energy conservation. Please consider signing the Energy Conservation Month pledge. All participants who sign this year’s pledge are automatically entered into a raffle to win some awesome prizes at the end of the month! Stop by our table at the market to learn more about conservation, and take part in events throughout the month; together we can make Lehigh a more sustainable community!
Sweater Palooza!
The LU Swap Shop is hosting the Energy Conservation Month event Sweater Palooza, November 19th from 10am to 1pm @ the LU Swap Shop located at 516 Brodhead Avenue.

The final Energy Conservation Month event is the Thanksgiving Break Power Down, happening 11/22-11/23. Before you leave for break, turn off or unplug your electronics and appliances. Watch your Lehigh email for a helpful power-down checklist. Power down and have an energy-smart Thanksgiving!

Pay It Forward with Pizza
For $2 you can help someone in our community who's hungry. Bethlehem Farmers' Market sponsor Lehigh Pizza (13 W. Third Street) has resumed their 'Pay It Forward Pizza' program, in which customers pay $2 for a Post-It note representing a plain slice and put it on the wall of the restaurant. Anyone in need may take a Post-It from the wall and exchange it for a slice of pizza. The Post-Its often include words of encouragement to go with the free slice. Lehigh Pizza has offered this slice of kindness each winter for the past six years, as a way to support neighbors in need. At the end of May, any unclaimed Post-Its are taken off the walls and their value is doubled and donated to New Bethany Ministries. Thank you, Lehigh Pizza! https://lehighpizza.com/
