Dear constituents,

I am putting together this email rather quickly to get it out here, so apologies for any formatting issues. As you may have seen, a provincial state of emergency has been declared in response to flooding in the Fraser Valley and damage from heavy rainfall. We have first responders and volunteer crews out helping to evacuate people, livestock and essential item already. BC Hydro crews are diligently restoring power where possible and road service crews are repairing and restoring the most vital infrastructure.

Thankfully, the North Shore has been spared from the brunt of the damage, and, last I heard, all power outages have been restored. With this in mind, officials are assessing slopes and river banks across the community and may be fencing off areas near where you live, work or play. Please respect these boundaries and stay away from slopes and riverbanks in general for the next week or so.

Please avoid non-essential travel outside your community and avoid travel to the Fraser Valley in general right now. Hoarding of goods and resources will not be tolerated, and these emergency orders do allow our government to impose penalties for hoarding, or price gouging.

Federal resources are being allocated and funding to support people and businesses affected by this are being put in place. Please consult the links provided below for more details on roads and responses and please reply here me if you need help getting other info related to the current emergency.
