Come help us celebrate our 40th birthday! Enjoy four hours of top shelf, toe-tapping New Orleans style 20's and 30's jazz music and dance! Featured bands are Ray Heitger's Cakewalkin' Jass Band from Toledo, and the Buffalo Ridge Jazz Band from Cincinnati led by Sally Lukasik.

As a bonus treat there will be a Charleston dance performance in costume by SwingColumbus and more. And of course birthday cake! We're excited to be holding this event in the beautifully restored historic Valley Dale Ballroom - one of the nationally renowned Ballrooms of the “Big Band” era with a huge dance floor.

Please bring non-perishable food items for the Holy Family Soup Kitchen & Food Pantry in Franklinton - thank you! Every bit helps- in past years it's usually added up to something like 100 pounds of food ... and that matters!

After-Party Jam Session: There might just be an informal jam after the official proceedings - can't say for sure. But probably worth putting an instrument in the car in case it comes off!

The Buffalo Ridge Jazz Band - now celebrating it’s 25th year, was founded by the late veteran showman Bob Adams. The BRJB has made numerous appearances at jazz festivals, concerts, and special events throughout the US and in Germany. The group plays classic jazz in the New Orleans tradition, as well as music for dancing and their audience's listening pleasure. Recordings are available at buffaloridgejazz.com. The Cakewalkin' Jass Band - is one of the best-known and best-loved hot jazz bands in the midwest, if not the US, having played jazz festivals coast to coast. They celebrated their 50th! anniversary in 2017. The band's love of this New Orleans style music and of bringing its inherent happiness to an audience is infectious! Led by original band member Ray Heitger, clarinet; Dave Kosmyna, cornet;  Russ Damschroder, trombone;  “Ragtime Rick” Grafing, piano; Betsy Grafing, banjo; Buddy Lopez, drums; Bob Miller, string bass; and stunning vocals by Nicole Heitger.
