Dear <<First Name>>,

We recently emailed you about our Big Give Christmas Appeal which starts in less than two weeks time.
As explained, we have secured pledge promises of £15,000.

From 30th November to 7th December, every donation made by a member of the public will be doubled with money from the secured pledge promises.

With your support we could raise £30,000!
Where will that money go?

We are looking to fund future support at our award winning Next Steps Centre for:

Early intervention work with young people suffering from mental health issues and at risk of substance misuse and/or county lines.

Adults in recovery from addiction enrolled on our Recovery Support Programme.

Veterans, serving personnel, and dependants affected by substance misuse and/or PTSD.

According to the most recent Department of Health & Social Care review of drugs part two: prevention, treatment, and recovery:

The illicit drugs market in the UK is worth almost £10 billion a year, with 3 million users and a supply chain that has become increasingly violent and exploitative. Drug deaths are at an all-time high and drug addiction fuels many costly social problems, including homelessness and rising demands on children’s social care. The drugs market is driving most of the nation’s crimes: half of all homicides and half of acquisitive crimes are linked to drugs. People with serious drug addiction occupy one in 3 prison places.

According to the Institute of Alcohol Studies' report on the cost of alcohol to society released in October, 2020:

The costs of alcohol to UK society are difficult to estimate accurately, and there is much debate of which costs to include in calculations. Contributory factors usually include private costs to the drinker, and some cost estimates also include the wider external costs to the rest of society as a result of their consumption. A further important distinction is between tangible and intangible costs. However, for England and Wales, the most but most widely cited number dates from 2003, when the Cabinet Office estimated it to be £21 billion.

According to the Mental Health First Aid England (MHFA) article published in October, 2020

Mental ill health is the second largest cause of burden of disease in England. with the economic costs of mental health issues in England having been estimated at £105 billion each year. In an average classroom, ten children will have witnessed their parents separate, eight will have experienced severe physical violence, sexual abuse or neglect, one will have experienced the death of a parent and seven will have been bullied.
We can make a difference.

Each year, Next Steps supports over 300 individuals through a range of programmes. New developments include recruiting a new workshop coordinator and building on our workshop-based programmes, including upcycling and painting/decorating. Our kitchen volunteer team now prepare meals for members and were recently awarded a 4-star food hygiene certificate. New outreach work across Norfolk through a partnership with Project ADDER.

See a selection of service user testimonials below to see how our support has benefitted them...
