Tip of the Week

With many holiday activities being cancelled, what about keeping it extra cozy at home during the end-of-the-year festivities? Preparing for Christmas is one of those activities that can bring the whole family together, so let's enjoy every moment of it! What about starting with a good plan?

Week 1: Set your intentions
As we head into December, let’s think about how we want this month to feel, and how we want to act.

Week 2: Build your Christmas stories
This week is about your stories and conversation for this reason. We can chat while making dinner or start a fun conversation topic while driving in the car. This is an easy way to build family closeness, and sharing together can feel special and bring a sparkle and shine to any ordinary day.

Week 3: Have a laugh
This week we encourage you to laugh a little. The stressful moments of today might make for the best Christmas stories in the future. Enjoy a cozy hot cocoa with your kids and build beautiful memories.

Week 4: Be present
Pause to look up, breathe deeply and take a mental picture of the moment, not the moment of your fantasies but this moment in all its imperfection and all its beauty.

Many of us will not spend the holidays with our families because of the pandemic [again]. A hand-written letter might bring you closer to your beloved ones. Despite being able to reach out to each other real quick through the internet, the time of hand writing might bring you insights and memories usually not present in our fast-paced lives. Grab your favorite pen and put all your love in those lines ;)

COVID-19 Updates

Winter is coming... therefore, the Dutch government is taking extra measures to slow down the rapid spread of the virus. Basic rules must still be followed, and working from home is again highly advised. From November 13, in addition to mandatory face masks and the requirement of the coronavirus entry pass, there are extra restrictions measures, including earlier closing of shops, cafes, and restaurants. You can get a coronavirus entry pass if you are fully vaccinated, have a valid proof of recovery or a negative result from a coronavirus test taken less than 24 hours before entry. For people without proof of vaccination or recovery, getting tested will remain free of charge. You can generate a coronavirus entry pass using the CoronaCheck app on your mobile phone.

Are you planning to travel abroad? Keep updated with the EU policy here and the reopening plan here. Also, check which protocols you should follow here (in Dutch). Find the updated measures in brief here and the latest news here.

Follow weekly updates on COVID-19 on the RIVM website. Anyone who experiences coronavirus (mild) symptoms can be tested by appointment. It is possible to get a test even if you have no symptoms but are at increase risk; for instance, if you get a notification from the CoronaMelder app. Call 0800 1202 (08:00-20:00) to make an appointment or do it online. Municipal Health Authority GGD Haaglanden opened a corona test site at the Bieslandsekade 68 in Delft. Other test locations are in Nootdorp, Den Haag, Naaldwijk and Leidschendam. Find more information on testing on GGD Haaglanden website (in Dutch) or government website (in English). Steffie provides details of COVID-19 in an interactive way.

COVID-19 Vaccine

Vaccination in the Netherlands is voluntary; therefore, it is important to be well informed to make a good decision for yourself, your family, friends and vulnerable people in your surroundings.

Everyone aged 12 and over in the Netherlands got invited for vaccination against COVID-19. The total number of vaccines that have been administered can be checked from here. Already got vaccinated? Get your coronavirus entry pass with the CoronaCheck app. Want to get a vaccine but has not registered yet? Just visit the nearest walk-in center. Remember, even after you get the vaccine, keep following the coronavirus rules. Learn more about the vaccination and its related aspects here.

Due to the pandemic, our regular activities such as Delft MaMa Playgroup and Cooking Club have been suspended. However, we will really appreciate you sharing some ideas for future activities. Please don't hesitate to contact us. Thank you!
