Dear Friends,

I hope this finds you well and enjoying the fresher days and autumn colours in the park. I Absolutely love this time of year - the trees look almost ethereal and I find myself copying the children and collecting beautiful leaves to take home and treasure.

This week in the park our amazing gardeners started planting bulbs for next year – much as I’m enjoying autumn, I can’t wait to see what joys Spring brings from these.

Our gardeners are all volunteers and meet weekly at The Friends’ room in the Pavilion 10-12 weds – should you wish to join them, you will be most welcome.

I am disappointed to share with you that from the 5th December Fog Lane Park Tearooms will be ceasing to operate the café in the park. It is really disappointing for everyone – there was just not enough money coming in.

When we helped put together details for the tender we did try to explain that a novel approach to the standard business model would probably be needed here- this sadly proves it. We are in talks with Manchester City Council to secure an operator as soon as possible and hopefully we will be able to find one that understands these issues, knows our amazing community, and is geared to increase activity in the park – it’s a BIG ask….

Finally we are meeting next Wednesday 24th November in Christ Church South Manchester, Parrswood Road from 7-8pm where we will be discussing plans for Christmas, the issues facing our park and our plans going forward – if you would like to come along, please email foglaneparkfriends@gmail.com and if you cant make it but would like the minutes of the meeting, please do the same.

Hope to see you in the park, until then take care,

Alice
