Preparations for borders opening

On Tuesday 23 November, South Australia will open its borders and move towards living with COVID-19 in our community.

As the weather warms up and we all prepare for gatherings and holidays, it is up to all of us to make the right decisions to keep ourselves, our families, communities and Elders safe.

Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is one of the best ways to protect us all and COVID safe behaviours will continue to be very important too.

Getting tested as soon as symptoms appear, physically distancing from others (two big steps), washing our hands, wearing a mask when we’re in indoor public spaces, COVID SAfe Check-In wherever we go and staying home if we’re sick must continue to help keep everyone safe.

Our Aboriginal brothers and sisters are still vulnerable to COVID-19, particularly the young ones with many still unvaccinated. It is now in all of our hands to encourage those 12 years and older who can be vaccinated to protect themselves and others by getting vaccinated.

To find a COVID vaccination walk in or pop up clinic, visit www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/covidvaccine.

South Australia’s COVID-Ready Plan

What happens if you come in contact with someone with COVID-19 from 23 November?

From 23 November, new contact tracing rules are being introduced in South Australia called the Test, Trace, Isolate and Quarantine (TTIQ) model.

These new rules explain who will be considered a close or casual contact when a person tests positive to COVID-19. It also clarifies the testing and/or quarantine requirements for different contacts.

As a general guide, less people will be required to quarantine under this new arrangement. However, in each case, SA Health will give specific advice for low-risk casual contacts, casual contacts and close contact.

For more information including definitions of contacts and frequently asked questions,  keep checking the SA Health website as information continues to be added.

New processes for entering South Australia from 23 November

Three new COVID Ready digital solutions have been revealed today. They will support the reopening of South Australia, reunite families and protect the state.

1. EntryCheck SA
Returning South Australians and travellers who want to enter South Australia from 23 November must complete this simple border entry process called EntryCheck SA.

EntryCheck SA replaces the Cross Border Travel Registration application and SA Health exemption form and will check if people are vaccinated, departure location and COVID-19 risk.
For more information, visit www.covid-19.sa.gov.au/travel/entrycheck-sa

2. HealthCheck SA
If you come to SA from interstate areas with COVID-19 community transmission, you may need to use the new HealthCheck SA app as part of your entry conditions into SA.

HealthCheck SA is a mobile app that guides people through their quarantine, testing and/or symptom check requirements.
For more information, visit www.covid-19.sa.gov.au/travel/healthcheck-sa

3. MySA GOV proof of vaccination
From the 23 November, you will be able to add your digital COVID-19 vaccination certificate into your mySA Gov app.

This will make it easier for you to show your vaccination status at businesses, venues and events where proof of vaccination is required. For instructions, visit www.covid-19.sa.gov.au/response

Other ways you can get proof of your COVID-19 vaccination:

  • print your own COVID-19 digital certificate or immunisation history statement when you download your proof form the Services Australia website
  • save to your smart phone by downloading the Express Plus Medicare app
  • call and ask us to post your immunisation history statement. Call 1800 653 809 Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm. It may take up to 14 days to arrive.
