Good afternoon friends,
Through this past week's fears, worries, and hard work, we have been blessed with a strong community of people caring for one another and the most at risk right here among us. God has been with us as we came together in these most trying times and caught glimpses of God's Kingdom here in Yarrow, Chilliwack, and Abbotsford. We grieve for our neighbours whose houses, farms, and livelihoods are now underwater or destroyed by mudslides while giving thanks that we were spared the worst.
Tomorrow our church will be open as usual for all to come and gather, to come and grieve, to come and give thanks. We look forward to seeing all who can come in person and will also have Zoom open and the link available. We invite you to bring items of prayer and praise to share.
This Sunday, there will be no Sunday school as the classrooms are still drying out from minor flooding in the basement. However, parents can use the upstairs nursery for babies and preschoolers.
The City of Chilliwack website indicates that the roads into Yarrow are closed to anyone who is not a resident of Yarrow. We have been in contact with the city and have confirmed the following:
"Since the evacuation alert issued for Yarrow remains in effect, we are advising residents to limit travel in and out of the area. There are no longer police checkpoints entering Yarrow, and residents can use their discretion regarding what essential travel means to them. The safety of all residents is paramount, and anyone entering Yarrow should be prepared to leave the area at a moment's notice."
