I did a quick off the cuff poll the other day.

I asked people what was the number one problem they needed to solve with their quilting, and the overwhelming answer was TIME.

And I get it, I really do. You'd think I'd be producing as much as possible too but no. However, there's a few things I realized I do that helps make things possible. Or finishable I guess?

I have a dedicated workspace so I can leave at a moment's notice and not clean a thing up. Then an hour later can pick up right where I left off. I also make time to sew or even just putter in my sewing room when I don't feel creative. I've realized that I have to schedule myself in just like I make sure I take care of other people in the house or do other household things. I just run better that way,

So how do you find time to sew?

Black Friday is Coming

Yes we are having sales and there will be more details to come. But to save time and angst for all of us, whatever will be on sale will be spread over a few days. None of this "sale item a day" stuff that's impossible for me to keep track of.

Links you love

I often get asked how do I find the time to dig up these cool and interesting links. Well, parlty it is a habit. Every day I read cool things on the internet and a lot of blogs and facebook pages. Good thing I read super fast. Anything remotely interesting, I bookmark the link in a folder called "for newsletter". Sometimes I don't find much, sometimes I find a whole pile of things. Each week I choose just a few for you so there's always something.

Got a link others might enjoy? Send it in by hitting reply to this email.
  • Let's go back in time and start making these folded star potholders again. YES THEY ARE BACK.
  • Got some time to read? How about the history of color theory and also part two. If you struggle with color this might help. (Also you're better at it than you think!)
  • Short on time? This quilt in a hurry takes one layer cake and one cut. Single slice quilt.
  • My mom and I talk often about the need for "mindless sewing" - working on some project where you just don't have to think too hard and it's really hard to screw up. Like if you're sewing while you are super tired. This Haphazard quilt also will use up PLENTY of those scraps.
Alrighty, there goes my reminder to open the shop so it's time to wrap up and send this out. ;)

A.

p.s. - I did a quick redesign of the site too! You know, in my off time. ;) There's a few lingering things I need to tweak but as always if you find anything seriously wrong, give me a holler.
