During the month of November we focus on men’s health as part of a movement called Movember. We raise awareness by growing moustaches and beards – our scruffy looks are there to carry out the message and also to show solidarity to our brothers everywhere.
Did you know that:
3 out of 4 suicides are men (that is 75%!)
1 in 9 Canadian men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime
Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men
Get the men in your life checked out medically andshare these tips with them.
Be on the lookout and care for the men you see every day. Does he look withdrawn and stressed? Is he not showing up in his regular way? Especially in the virtual world, does he look withdrawn and disconnected on screen, or worse still is his camera often off or has he started missing meetings altogether? It may be time to reach out and show you care! You may be his only lifeline.
When we do this, when we focus on others that may need our help, soon we will find the joy of caring for others. During November it may be more for our men, but we need to do it all the time for anyone and everyone we encounter.
