The TN Dept of Health held a provider webinar on Nov. 5 outlining the current state of COVID-19 and giving updates on the rollout of the vaccine for kids in the younger age groups.
The Vanderbilt Kennedy Center has released a toolkit to help providers calm children, especially those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, who get nervous and anxious around needle sticks for vaccines and blood draws.

Elizabeth Williams, MD, MPH, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Division of General Pediatrics, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, will be leading a presentation for CPF members on Monday, Nov. 22 at 6 PM, discussing the latest updates on COVID-19 vaccines and the current vaccine hesitancy landscape.
Katherine Spencer, PsyD, Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, Division of Hospital Medicine, VUMC, and Heather Kreth, PsyD, Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, Division of Hospital Medicine, VUMC, led a presentation this week on Pediatric Mental Health.
The presentation discussed common mental health diagnoses such as anxiety/mood disorder and somatic symptoms (pain, GI issues), when to seek further care, how to access care, barriers to care, and how to approach conversations with parents or patients.
