The Woodstock Pollinator Pathway (WPP) invites you to join a casual and interactive Q&A with a few of WPP's consulting experts. Whether you're planning for spring planting, considering seeding a native meadow this year or want to know how to prepare your landscape to support overwintering insects our experts will be able to help. Ecological landscape designer Del Orloske, Master beekeeper Chris Layman, Biologist and herbaceous plant expert Melissa Peterson, and Master horticulturist Cindy Muro. Del Orloske M.A.L.D., B.E.S. received his graduate degree in sustainability and land planning at the Conway School in Massachusetts. A consultant for landscape architects, wetland scientists, engineers, both in New York State and Connecticut with a focus on mitigation, restoration, and stormwater management using native plants.
Chris Layman a Master Beekeeper, mentors other beekeepers in the Catskills and Hudson Valley area, and manages over 20 bee yards. He keeps bees both at the Catskill Center’s Thorn preserve and Olana State Historic site to teach the public about bees, other pollinators, and the plants they need to survive.
Melissa Peterson has experience working on ecologically and sustainably focused projects which strive to support people and nature. Melissa is an avid plant enthusiast, bird watcher, and naturalist. Melissa holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Linfield College and a Master’s degree in Environmental Conservation Education from New York University. She is also a Master Gardener and holds a Permaculture Design Certificate.
Cindy Muro studied Horticulture at Temple University and has spent her entire life in different areas of the field, from wholesale nursery propagation to florist to manager of Mohonk Mountain House greenhouses for 18 years. She is passionate about sharing the love of growing plants and being with nature to everyone. Has been involved with the Woodstock Tree committee since 1990 and gardening with children in Kingston since 2008.
