We have just published our meet the staff video - get to know some of the people who make SEMA happen!

One of our tutors, Sisian Wairimu, has been hosting office hours for students keen on learning more about music distribution. The students are getting one on one sessions where they are taken through all the intricacies of planning their releases based on a deep dissection of their dreams, ambitions, thoughts, and feelings about their future music releases, with special emphasis on their final projects for SEMA.

Wairimu is also a talented singer-songwriter, and we are so thrilled to have her on the team! You can keep up with all things Sisian here.

And here’s another one of our wonderful tutors, Trevor Magak. He’s a Grammy award winning sound engineer who’s also acted as assistant director for Coke Studio in 2016. This week, he’s teaching the students about setting up their mix and making creative decisions within their specific DAWs to achieve a mix that sounds excellent.

Santuri Soundcloud

For the fourth installment of Santuri Rough Cuts, we feature a bumping, wonky track by one of our SEMA students Munyasya. It's called "Almasi". About this unfinished demo, he said " I was trying to balance the techno music I produce for an international audience with local sounds people in Kenya can relate to. That's where the Ethic [Gengetone] sample and the drums came in."

MUNYASYA is an experimental electronic producer and DJ based in Nairobi, Kenya. His productions are inspired by techno and rhythm driven music like Afrobeat.  You can stay up to date with Munyasya here
