FUSION FIESTA
MSC WBAC had a table last Wednesday at Fusion Fiesta! Guests who visited our table had the opportunity to win prizes. The only thing they had to do was answer one question about our committee correctly! [NOTE: all the answers were on our board.] We had a great time at Fusion Fiesta and hope to be at the next one!   Special thanks to Adaje and Kevin who helped me out at the table.

REMEMBER...there no GCM tonight.

THANK YOU, LT. COL. STAFFORD '84
We had a "recent" record attendance of 51 people at our November Soulful Sunday.  Thanks to our Aggie community for joining us for this last Soulful Sunday event. Lt. Col. Stafford '84 had given a great presentation about her endeavor at A&M and success in her life. Key to Lt. Col. Stafford's presentation was that she, and her family, represents a multi-generational Aggie family that continues to this day with her children. She hopes her story about A&M helps to motivate younger generations, including her future grandchildren. The MSC WBAC is grateful to have hosted such an esteemed alumni. The Village looks forward to the spring semester and continuing our discussion of A&M Excellence!

Educates on Black history and matters involving the vast cultures and people of the African Diaspora.

NEW LANDMARK ON A&M CAMPUS
MSC WBAC member, George Hass '22, speaks about Matthew Gaines. Video Here

The Matthew Gaines Statue Dedication is this Friday, November 19th at 3 PM between the Student Services building and the MSC. This dedication marks a milestone in A&M’s history and we would love for you to attend! If you are able to attend, please fill out this RSVP , but it is not required for attendance.

Matthew Gaines, born August 4, 1840, was a Baptist minister who served as the senator from the 16th District in the Texas Legislature during Reconstruction. During his tenure in office, he was a staunch advocate for the rights of freed people.

Senator Gaines was a firm supporter of education and worked tirelessly to pass legislation that enabled Texas to take advantage of the Morrill Land-Grant Act, an act of Congress that provided grants of land to states to finance the establishment of colleges specializing in "agriculture and the mechanic arts". Today, Texas A&M is the largest beneficiary of the Land-Grant Act.

You can read more about Sen. Gaines' life and legacy here.
