Hello Cowell Students,

The UCSC Principles of Community outline seven key principles that every campus member is expected to practice. Caring, defined in this outline as “promoting mutual respect, trust and support to foster bonds that strengthen the community” is the theme of this month's newsletter. This month of Thanksgiving we invite you to consider how you show you care about our campus community, the people in your life, and yourself.

One universal way that people show they care is through food. This month Meals with Friends is highlighting bread, with recipes for handmade no-knead bread, garlic bread, grilled cheese, and muffins. We hope you enjoy these for yourself and with friends. You can also stop by the free desk for some self care this month. We have a rotating array of snacks, hygiene products, candy, and more available at the entrance of the Cowell College office.

As we approach Thanksgiving, and in this month’s theme of caring we invite you to reflect on these three questions:

  1. What are you most thankful for?

  2. Who is someone that has done something to show that they care about you?

  3. How do you show that you care for them?

Now scroll to the end of our newsletter for instructions on how to enter our giveaway using your answers to the above questions!

Happy Thanksgiving Slugs!
