Things have really been hotting up in the last few weeks in the Say No to Scarborough Gas campaign run by 350.org
 
Fortnightly Wednesdays at Woodside/BHP/Perdaman/NAB have put the information out on the streets and attracted good social media coverage – and the latest initiative is beaming anti-pollution messages on Woodside’s building at night – see https://www.facebook.com/104730455065221/posts/216705510534381/?d=n
 
Action groups are also targeting local businesses to display material and add their logos to the website as a gesture of their support.
I urge you to look at their website https://saynotoscarborough.com.au/, watch the video, inform yourself and decide how you can personally take action to persuade investors and shareholders that Woodside’s final investment decision in early December is neither economically nor legally advisable given its glaring lack of the necessary environmental and heritage approvals – see CCWA’s report

But something that you can do right now is email Perdaman’s CEO Vikas Rambal saying that the Burrup peninsula is the very worst place for his proposed polluting Urea plant, which will in turn be dependent on the very Scarborough gas we don’t want!
Some points to mention – building the plant will involve moving 5 pieces of significant rock art; Aboriginal people we speak to are opposed to it, despite Rambal’s proclaimed support from MAC; under the BMIEA agreement MAC is actually gagged from objecting to industrial development, so there is no prior and informed consent for this highly destructive project to go ahead; it will add to already huge acid rain deposits on the Burrup and eat away at Murujuga’s rock art (see paper above); regardless of extra expense, it should be located on the Maitland Industrial Estate – or why not go to Queensland and take over the already established but failing Urea plant there?
