Hello <<First Name>>

Over the past couple of weeks I've been observing the beautiful autumn colour here in Yorkshire, and enjoying the changing light with the seasons. I've been busy with lots of teaching commitments but also preparing for some exciting events.

Below is a reminder of some things you might be interested in

visit: 'Home/Work'

This week the Knitting & Stitching Show returns to Harrogate, and I'm delighted to be exhibiting a solo show there.

My exhibition titled 'Home/Work
' considers the role of home and work in our lives; where does one end and the other begin? Is home a place of safety or somewhere we can’t escape ourselves? This exhibition draws together a collection of recent works made before, during and after lockdown, from large installation work to small wall-based pieces.

The work explores how textiles can mediate complex ideas and deep emotions about home, work and the role of making as an act of caring. I will be selling many of the smaller works, with a portion of proceeds going to charities Refugee Action and Shelter.

I would be delighted to see you at the show - please come and say hello!

Firstly there is a lovely piece in the current issue of Embroidery all about my exhibition Home / Work (pictured below).

Then a couple of weeks ago I was delighted to be interviewed by the Yorkshire Post for the regular 'My Yorkshire' feature.

I was also pleased to meet Isabelle Fish of Toronto based Rue Pigalle last month, as part of an online tour of Connected Cloth and the British Textile Biennial. You can read about her tour here.

I have also given an in-depth interview about my exhibition at the Knitting & Stitching Show, in which I talk about the themes behind the work and discuss my creative processes. You can read it online here.

Later this month I will be giving a new illustrated online talk 'Unravelling Archives'. I will be exploring historic printers and dyers notebooks held in the Bradford College Textile Archives, and expanding on how archival research informs and influences my practice, including the story behind my work for the Connected Cloth exhibition.

Unravelling Archives: online talk with the Whitaker.

It's the last couple of weeks of the 62 Group's 'Connected Cloth' exhibition, which includes a piece by me titled 'Incomplete Histories'. The show continues until 28th November at the Whitaker.

At the Knitting & Stitching Show you will be able to watch my new artist film, which accompanies some he work in the show. The film was shot on location at Sunny Bank Mills, Bradford School of Art and in my own studio, with the support of the Arts Council. It gives an insight into some of the themes and processes behind my work and sets the work into the context of place.

The film is also available to view on my website:

Gosh! I hadn't realised how busy I had been until I wrote that. Thanks for sticking with me.

Don't forget to follow me on social media for updates about exhibitions and events (links below) and find more about my work on my website.

Hope to see you soon.
