Irwin Cares
Irwin Cares will be held on Saturday 11/20 and we are in need of 20 volunteers to assist. The areas of assistance are cleaning up the media center, math resource room, and PTA office.

Kids in grades K-3 are not permitted but this is a great opportunity for students in grades 4-5 or IB students to earn some service hours.

Zoom meeting November 18th from 6:00 PM-7:30 PM

Join Ms. Luster, Ms. Orr, and Mrs. Hooper as they give you research-based advice and ways to help your child at home in the areas of academics, social, and emotional health. 

Student Council Food Drive

The Irwin Student Council will be sponsoring a canned food drive November 15-23 to benefit Loaves and Fishes of Charlotte. Cans may be taken to the homeroom class or dropped off in the front hall.

Thank you for supporting our student council and Loaves and Fishes.

Math Stars
It is time to start our 1st-5th grade Math Superstars program at Irwin Academic Center for the 2021-2022 school year! 

This is a PTA-sponsored program designed to enhance your child’s journey through mathematics.  By expressing an interest in challenging problem-solving experiences, your student has taken the first step toward becoming an independent learner who is willing to address many types of problems. To help with the management of this program, we are looking for each class to have a parent volunteer to check student worksheets or answers which will be submitted weekly via a google form. The completion of the Math Superstars will be tracked on a digital chart. At the end of the year, students will be recognized for their participation! 

Please email Ms. Haines at famata.haines@cms.k12.nc.us by Tuesday, November 23rd, if you are interested in being a parent volunteer.
 

Open House Dates for Prospective Families
Irwin has scheduled Virtual Open Houses for prospective families.  

Share the dates with your friends and family, and anyone who might be interested in finding a school home at Irwin!
