Who strikes you as the least likely person to come to faith in Jesus?

For me it was my dad. He’d seen my mum’s faith for 20 years. He’d been around the edges of church and social events. He’d heard the gospel (or so I thought). But was convinced that it was all make-believe.

Who is the least likely person to come to faith in Jesus?

For the people in Jericho, perhaps it was Zaccheus. Mean and greedy. A cheat and a liar. Only out for what he could make for himself.

And yet he, like my dad, surprised everyone! Making a complete about-turn in life and following Jesus.

Two dramatic, but quite different changes. For one it meant setting aside his scepticism. For the other it meant setting aside his greed.

Zaccheus, the mean and greedy says ‘Here and now I give half my possessions to the poor’.

Zaccheus, the cheat and liar says ‘If I have cheated anybody out of anything I will pay back four times the amount’.

For Zaccheus this was a whole-life change. And that’s what we want to think about this Sunday. The whole-life change Jesus makes. We’ll be doing one of our ‘workplace Sundays’, hearing from three of our church family about following Jesus in their everyday lives – focusing in particular on caring for God’s creation.

So pray for Craig and Lekan and Becky as they share, and come ready to be encouraged about how your whole life can be completely given over to Jesus! (And pray for that most unlikely person to come to faith... you never know!)

Football Team

The team made it back to back wins last week with a hard fought 2-1 win over Greenbank. A scrappy game was settled with a 50 yard wonder strike from Jonny McLeish! This Saturday's match is at home vs Greenock Mount Kirk - Crookfur Playing Fields @10am, come and see rare appearances by veteran of the team Euan Leitch in goals and the old manager Chris Rose outfield!
Design a logo competition
The football team is in the process of designing new strips, made from recycled materials and created in partnership with local sportswear company VSN Sport. However, we are looking to design a new team logo for the strips and the team would like the children and young people in the church to help design it. Look out for more information on this coming soon!
