It's the time of year when most of the boats are tucked up ready for the winter, and we are starting to look forward to two of our flagship social events of the year: The Duck Supper and The Christmas Dinner (yes, both deserve to be capitalised!). I very much look forward to seeing you at hopefully one or the other, or perhaps at the next Knowledge and Nosh on 9th December. Of course the Gen Comm never rest, and despite the sailing season only just winding down, the committee are already looking towards 2022! If you have any ideas or requests for the programme, whether crusing, racing, training or social please let us know.
It was brilliant to see people down for the working weekend and lift out. Thanks also go to those who delivered a cake or did odd jobs on other days instead. With everyone pulling together, our club is nicely winterised and we can look to do some of the jobs that are always on the list, but we never manage to get done.
We've managed to get some more excellent publicity this month, with articles in Yachts and Yachting and on the RYA website, and recognition from RYA South East Region, Sea Cadets Gravesend, Gravesend RNLI and Gravesend Visitor Information on Facebook. In addition we have received letters of thanks from the RNLI following impressive fundraising from the Fish Supper, and from the Sea Cadets Gravesend for their sailing day. If you use social media please do share posts and retweet when you can. Don't have social media? Please help write up an event for local papers or the RYA. Offers of support to LIz please (publicity@gravesendsc.org.uk).
Well done to all who have written an article for The Reach. The editor is running well to time, unfortunately only delayed by the lack of a codpiece. Perhaps I should sign off now and stop procrastinating....
