Scripture Readings
Sunday November 21st, Christ the King Sunday

In fairy tales, kings live in a castle, usually on a hill, surrounded by a moat for protection. Today's political leaders often have modern means of providing safety against attackers. Because of these preconceived notions of what kings are, we need to be reminded that Jesus redefined the title “king.” Today we celebrate Christ as our king, even though Jesus is nothing like an earthly king. His authority comes from the truth to which he bears witness, and those who recognize the truth voluntarily listen to him. Rather than protecting himself from harm in any way, the vulnerable King Jesus dares to demonstrate God’s love for all people. We look forward to the day Jesus will fully reign over the whole world, knowing his victory will be the nonviolent victory of love. -- Adapted from Sundays and Seasons

Readings: 1 Peter 2:1-9 // John 18:33-37

URGENT NEED FOR BOYS’ WINTER JACKETS
Our neighbors at Como Park elementary school are in urgent need of new or gently used winter jackets for boys in grades K-5 whose parents cannot afford to purchase jackets. (They have enough jackets for girls). They can also use boots for both boys and girls.

Winter is coming! Bring the jackets and boots to church; we’ll get them to the children.
November Food Drive

November is the month when we especially give thanks for abundance, AND it reminds us that many of our neighbors face scarcity.

A table in the narthex is available for donations of non-perishable food and household supplies.

Online donations can be made at www.ralphreederfoodshelf.org.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Bob Sackariason will take place in the Christ the King Sanctuary on Thursday, November 18th at 2:00 pm, with visitation preceding at 1 pm. An informal “socially-distanced” reception will follow the service in CtK’s Celebration Hall.

As we celebrate the promise of resurrection and new life for Bob, we offer continued prayers for comfort and peace to Bob's family and friends, especially his wife, Edwinna, and his three adult children, Ann, Jim, and Carolyn.

We celebrate the life of Dan Knuth in the Christ the King Sanctuary with a memorial service to be held on Friday, November 19th at 2:00 pm. A socially-distanced reception of dessert and coffee will follow in Celebration Hall.

We continue to give thanks for Dan's life, pray for ongoing comfort for Joann and all who knew Dan, and find peace in knowing that the promise of salvation through Christ does not disappoint.

OFFICE CLOSED NOVEMBER 25 & 26 FOR THANKSGIVING.
