NACDD, in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are excited to announce an additional training opportunity to become a National DPP State Quality Specialist (SQS). This training is open to State Health Department diabetes staff and contractors working on 1815/1817 cooperative agreements.
We are currently accepting applications from State Health Departments who do not have a trained National DPP State Quality Specialist in their state and are interested in taking part in the next round of National DPP SQS trainings scheduled for May 2022. You are receiving this announcement because your state does not currently have a National DPP SQS.

Vision: The overall vision of this training opportunity is to have a trained workforce of specialists focused on providing high quality technical assistance and support to delivery organizations and their partners. We envision that all states will eventually have at least one trained National DPP State Quality Specialist. In addition to this training opportunity, NACDD and CDC will provide post-training support for trained specialists. To apply, review the background factsheet below then complete the application for the May 2022 National DPP SQS training. Our intention is to notify training applicants about their acceptance to trainings by Dec. 10, 2021.

National DPP SQS Training At-A-Glance
Purpose |
To prepare State Health Department diabetes staff with the essential knowledge and skills needed to provide high-quality technical assistance to partners and to organizations and their lifestyle coaches offering the National DPP lifestyle change program. After the training, participants will be oriented/onboarded to become a National DPP State Quality Specialist and are expected to participate in quarterly SQS Support Network calls. |

Professional Experience |
At least 1 year working with at least one of the following 1815 strategies: A.4, A.5, A.6 or 1817 strategies: A.2, A.3, A.4, A.5, A.6 |
Leadership Buy-in |
Leadership support for training and serving as a National DPP Quality Specialist following the onboarding process. |
Ability to participate in a 4-part training |
Cohort 4 training dates in 2022: May 3rd, 5th, 10th and 12th |
Submit Application |
Applications for cohort 4 are due on December 3, 2021. |
Participant Post-Training Requirements
Agreement to provide technical assistance to: |
- CDC-recognized organizations
- Organizations wishing to become CDC-recognized organizations
- Others as requested

Agreement to participate in follow-up |
- At least 6 hours of onboarding training following the initial training
- Quarterly National DPP SQS Network meetings
