Building Therapeutic Communication Capacity in Gippsland
This is a FREE 3 hour Workshop for SIX people only at each practice. Gippsland Regional Palliative Care Consortium (GRPCC) and Gippsland PHN are partnering to provide training to general practitioners and practice nurses on evidence based therapeutic communications skills in the context of palliative care and Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD). The communication skills learned within these workshops are transferable across the breadth of care for all patients.

Culturally Responsive Practice with Older People in Health and Aged Care Course
This online course outlines appropriate clinical practice for working with aged care recipients from CALD backgrounds, targeting clinicians and health practitioners working in health and aged care settings.
Participation in this training may attract CPD for participants. The material in this course is designed to support the ongoing professional development of clinicians and health practitioners and is mapped against a range of relevant professional and service standards.

The Readiness Program
Primary care’s readiness to address domestic and family violence
Pathways to Safety is a free training program that strengthens the capacity of primary care providers to effectively recognise, respond, refer and record Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) using a trauma and violence informed approach.
The virtual practice-centred training program is designed to enhance a whole of practice response. Skilled GP and FV Facilitators deliver the training to all clinical and non-clinical staff over two 1.5-hour online sessions.
‘Pathways to Safety’ is an evidence-based educational program developed by the University of Melbourne. The Readiness Program is led by Safer Families Centre.

Diagnosis and Treatment of PTSD in Emergency Service Workers
This workshop has been designed with a focus on GPs to assist in diagnosing patients with acute stress disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and other comorbidities. Evidence-based guidelines will be used as the foundation to appropriately diagnose and identify treatment pathways including recommended referrals, trauma focused psychological therapy and psychological first aid to help support the management of emergency service workers. The training may also be relevant to other health professionals.

Free online learning: Foundations of Chronic Disease program
The Benchmarque Group has recently launched its new free online-only Foundations of Chronic Disease program.
Delivered completely online, the program is aimed at a range of health professionals working within Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health or have Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander clients, and is estimated to take less than 10 hours to complete.
The Chronic Disease Pathway extended learning options which will include nationally accredited face-to-face programs are due to be released in the next quarter. These programs are fully funded by the Australian Government Department of Health - meaning there is no cost to register and complete.

Rural Workforce Agency of Victoria Scholarship –
Focussed Psychological Strategies Skills Training for General Practitioners
RACGP and the Rural Workforce Agency of Victoria (RWAV) are offering 100 scholarships to Victorian GPs in Modified Monash Model (MMM) 3-7 and GPs working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation in (MMM) 1-2 + (MMM) 3-7 locations to complete Focussed Psychological Strategies Skills Training (FPS ST).
Each scholarship will provide full funding (valued at $979) to complete the course with RACGP. This program is a partnership between RWAV and RACGP with funding from the Australian Government.
