November

Hi CMLA community,

What a fun and creative time it has been with the Centre these past few weeks. In this newsletter you will see photos and celebrations from the Music and Worship event, Songwrite and the Celebration Dinner as the Centre marked more than 10 years of ministry. Thank you to all who made this wonderful event happen, especially the organising team - Sharonne Price, Mark Schultz, Ian Stewart and the CMLA staff.
The Centre has great new resources to help congregations plan Advent and Christmas. For our 2022 events, we are starting with an Art Workshop in January and a Planning Day for Church Leaders at the beginning of February.

All the information is below and on the website. Blessings

Planning Day

Save the date!

Come and share 2022 planning time with others in ministry. There will be discussion times, brainstorming, prayer and personal planning time as we look to the needs of our individual communities and shape the lectionary for year 'C' and the book of Luke. We will go out and share lunch together as we begin this new year in ministry. It is intended that this will be a supportive and collegial time together and you may well pick up a few gems from what is happening in other communities or find someone with whom to collaborate. It will be great to begin the year off together.

Thursday 3rd February

More details in our December newsletter.

Music and Worship Workshop reflection

Music is integral to our ability to worship. The Uniting Church is full of gifted musicians who faithfully serve the church every week in worship. This gathering was a collaborative coming together of worship leaders, ministers and musicians from many different congregations to learn, share and affirm one another. It was great to be able to think carefully about how we contribute to the congregation, plan ahead, the importance of copyright, learn some new music and share music together. Thank you to the organising team and to Rosefield for hosting. It was a fabulous day.

Songwrite reflection

Songwriters from all around Australia gathered together for a weekend of songwriting. Malcolm Gordon, Presbyterian minister and songwriter from New Zealand, shared on the themes of lament and writing music for Times Like These. The group were inspired and many new songs emerged. This event provided opportunities to collaborate across state boundaries, affirm the gifting of a network of songwriters and share the creative process as new songs are formed.

CMLA Celebratory Dinner reflection

CMLA celebrates more than 10 years of ministry.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to a night of celebration with good doses of laughter, story, great entertainment and good food at the CMLA 10 year(plus) anniversary dinner. It was lovely to share the evening with so many kindred spirits.
Special thanks to the donors, sponsors, purchasers; performers (Jenny Symonds and Georgia Elsegood on violin and cello; the witty Subtle Bricks crew; Nigel Hall on acoustic guitar and the uplifting voices of MiniM choir) and the team at Nunyara.
The financial outcomes were very pleasing too.
Thanks again to everyone for making it a night to remember!
