Major amendment 2 and PSP amendment 4 – bushfire – response to submissions and changes to amendments


Council is progressing with the proposed Major amendment 2 and the PSP amendment 4 – bushfire under the Mackay Region Planning Scheme.
 
Council has considered public submissions (received from the consultation period) at the Ordinary Meeting on November 10, 2021. There were 13 submissions received related to Major amendment 2. There were no submissions received related to the PSP amendment 4 – bushfire. Consultation reports about the Major amendment 2 and the PSP amendment 4 – bushfire have been prepared and sent to each submitter. These reports are available to view online: The consultation reports detail consultation activities undertaken, submissions received and their grounds, consideration of each submission and whether this has resulted in a change to the amendment, and changes to the amendments as a result of submissions.
 
The proposed amendment will be provided to the Minister for State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning to consider allowing council to adopt the proposed amendment.

Local area planning in the Pioneer Valley


On November 10, 2021, Council held a local area planning session at the Finch Hatton Showgrounds to present and discuss the local area planning framework recommendations for Finch Hatton and Eungella, to support these towns becoming trail towns for the future mountain bike trails.
 
The recommendations include proposed changes to the Mackay Region Planning Scheme to accommodate new uses and precincts in the townships as well as supporting public realm, wayfinding and connectivity improvements.
