Invitation for the EIP-AGRI Workshop 'Farm Data for better farm performance'

Dear Madam / Sir . ,

The European Commission's Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI) and the Support Facility 'Innovation & Knowledge exchange | EIP-AGRI' would like to invite you to the EIP-AGRI Workshop 'Farm Data for better farm performance'. This event will take place online from Thursday 9 to Friday 10 December 2021.

You have received this invitation because of your successful application to the call for interest!

Please find details about the event, including some action needed from your side (a request to register and to send us a video on your project).
Register for the workshop before 22 November, midday CET
Download the programme outline on the workshop event page
The workshop will be an interactive EU-level event, dedicated to networking amongst participants from innovative projects and relevant initiatives related to farm data. Digital technologies and data-based solutions can help farmers work more precisely, efficiently, and sustainably, improving decision-making and farming practices, and helping increase farm performance, whilst also making farming jobs more attractive to younger generations.

The workshop aims to:
  • Take stock of on-going successful projects and initiatives that collect and make use of farm generated data to improve farm performance.
  • Explore the role of the different stakeholders on farm data collection and use at farm level.
  • Provide an environment to exchange best practices on farm data collection, use and sharing.
To achieve these objectives, we will promote innovative approaches and results from innovative projects, and foster exchange between these projects and stakeholders. We would like to create the opportunity for you to meet and exchange ideas and experiences with other Operational Groups, research and other innovative projects and stakeholders working on farm data issues across Europe!

Please note: the working language at the workshop will be English, and there will be no interpretation.

(1) Participating and signing up
Following your successful application to the call, we now need you to register officially to the event. As a general rule, this invitation is applicable only to you. If you accept it, please register by 22 November 2021, midday CET. After this date, your place cannot be guaranteed.

There are two situations when forwarding the invitation to someone else is permitted:
  • If you are not available on the dates of the event but someone else from your project or initiative who has similar relevant expertise, could replace you. If this is the case, please ask the person who is replacing you to register. When reaching Question 5 on the registration form, the person replacing you will need to choose the last option and then answer a few specific questions regarding this replacement (questions 5.a-d).
  • The second case is only applicable for participants from EIP Operational Group projects. It is possible to allow a second participant if they are a farmer, member of the same Operational Group. In this case, please ask the farmer to also register and chose the second option under Question 5 on the registration form. This exception is permitted because the participation of farmers at the event is our top priority!

(2) We want you to share your project with the other participants!
During the event, there will be a ‘Project Market’ featuring project presentations from participants. We want you to be part of that and share the results of your work with the others. Therefore, we would like to ask you to prepare a short introductory video of your project and send us the video file!

The video should be no longer than three minutes (this is very important to respect the time of the various programme sessions!). If you can, please include images from the field to make it more attractive!

The video should be structured based on the following four questions:
  • What challenge is your project addressing?
  • Who is involved in your project?
  • What innovative approaches, methods and/or tools are being tested by your project?
  • What is the main outcome/result of your project?
Video recording: There are various ways to do this. You could film yourself in the field with your phone or you could record a classic Power Point presentation through Zoom. Go for the one you are most comfortable with! Should you choose to record through Zoom we have prepared a set of instructions, please find them here. You may of course use other tools than Zoom to do the recording, it’s up to you! But please ensure the final video is in MP4 format. Please also take care of the sound quality, especially if you record outdoors. Please send the MP4 file to workshop@eip-agri.eu* also by 22 November.

*By providing a video presentation, you agree to the Support Facility 'Innovation & Knowledge exchange | EIP-AGRI' publishing your material during the event and as part of the event’s dissemination afterwards.
In a nutshell:
  1. Register for the workshop by 22 November 2021, midday CET
  2. Prepare and send us a short video about your project by 22 November 2021, midday CET
  3. Take a look at the programme outline here
