2022 Coastal Lecture Series
Mark your calendars! The 2022 Coastal Lecture Series is just around the corner. Lectures will be held in Florida Oceanographic's Ocean EcoCenter (not the Blake Library) on Tuesday evenings from January 11th through March 8th. A limited amount of in-person seating will be available, or you can enjoy the lectures from the comfort of your own home using Zoom. Stay tuned for a full schedule and additional details. In their conversation, they discuss the continuing seagrass die-off in the Indian River Lagoon, the effect it’s had on local manatee populations, and the overall health of our waterways.
'Tis the SEA-son for clean beaches! Join in on our efforts at Stuart Beach Tuesday, December 28th from 9:30am - 10:30am. Space is limited and registration is required.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has chosen a plan out of thousands of model runs that will reduce Lake O discharges currently coming into the Indian River Lagoon and St. Lucie Estuary. Our ultimate goal in this process has always been to push for ZERO overall discharges to the Treasure Coast, and while that was not the outcome of the USACE’s decision, there’s still time to make your voice heard!
Join us to learn about the unique plants and animals that call our local beaches home, as well as the processes that shape our shorelines and dunes. These fun, educational walks are perfect for all ages and will be held Friday and Sunday mornings at 8:00am starting January 7th - February 27th. Private walks are also available.
