Dear Holy Cross Families,

This week I would like to congratulate both Mrs. Cara Barnes and Father Jim Fenstermaker C.S.C. on being recipients of two different awards. Mrs. Barnes is this year’s recipient of the Fort Wayne - South Bend Diocese Christ the Teacher Award. Excerpts from the nomination form describe Mrs. Barnes as, “Christ-like in her treatment of her students and fellow teachers ”

Her love, devotion, and dedication to the mission of Holy Cross School are visible in her teaching and interactions with the entire Holy Cross community. She has even served as a mentor to our new teachers guiding them through their first years at our school.

Our pastor, Father Jim Fenstermaker, C.S.C., was the recipient of the St. Brother André Medal from Holy Cross High School in New York, where he attended high school. The Saint Brother André Medal is given annually to an individual who exemplifies the virtues of humility and service and has made, over many years, an enduring contribution to the mission of Holy Cross High School in making God known, loved, and served. I think I speak for everyone when I say that he has definitely exemplified these virtues here at Holy Cross School and continues to make God known, loved, and served.

Congratulations to both Mrs. Barnes and Father Jim, for answering the call to serve Holy Cross School!

-------Versión en español-------

Queridos padres y guardianes,

One of the most important dimensions of our parish life is our music ministry and those parishioners who assist us to worship through song at our parish liturgies, most especially at Sunday Mass. We are fortunate to have a very talented and dedicated music minister, Meg Hartz, leading our music ministry both in the parish and in the school…

Of equal importance is the contribution of our parishioners who serve as cantors and choir members, as well as those who occasionally provide instrumentation for the major liturgies throughout the year. Our cantors and choir members provide an invaluable ministry in facilitating our active participation in worship through song... '

You will recall the flyer that was included in the bulletin three weeks ago that began, “Can you sing Happy Birthday? You know you can!” I wish to encourage all those who have a strong interest in our music ministry to accept Meg’s invitation to become involved…

St. Augustine reminds us that “the one who sings prays twice.” Thank you for raising your voice in song, whether as a cantor, through the choir or in the pews, assisting all at church to pray twice through song.
Children’s Advent Wreath Workshop
Parents are invited to bring their children to the Crusader Commons on Sunday, November 21st, after the 10:30 am Mass to work with them in creating their Advent Wreaths, which will assist them to spiritually prepare for their celebration of Christmas.  (There will be dedicated tables in the back of Commons, where the coffee & donuts reception after Mass will also be taking place.  Masks will be required at these tables.)
