GREATER SALT LAKE 2021 GEODESIGN WORKSHOP
Utah has the fastest growing population in the country. Utah’s population could grow from almost 3 million in 2015, to 5.8 million in 2065. The growth rate by decade (2015-2065) ranges from 9.7% to 16.7%, more than double the national average projections. The MSD is partnering with USU to address the unique challenges from this rapid growth utilizing GeoDesign.
DIMPLE DELL STORM DRAIN PROJECT
The Municipal Services District contracted with Salt Lake County Public Works Operations to complete the Dimple Dell storm drain for unincorporated Salt Lake County.

The storm drain inlet on Dimple Dell Road was located in the travel lane. Many community members had safety concerns with the location of this inlet. Some cyclists that ride on Dimple Dell Road have had a problem catching their tire on the grate which had the potential of causing injuries. The Salt Lake County Public Works Operations team moved the inlet to the curb and connected the existing storm drain with a 15-inch reinforced concrete pipe. The curb and gutter were also reconstructed.
OPEN HOUSE: NEW WHITE CITY WATER DISTRICT BUILDING

The new building is located at  999 E Galena Dr, Sandy, UT 84094.

KEARNS AND MAGNA ACTIVE
TRANSPORTATION PLANS UNDERWAY
Kearns and Magna are collaborating to complete joint active transportation plans (ATPs). The ATPs will be used by the communities and decision-makers to prioritize projects, find funding sources, and construct a safe, connected, and accessible transportation network. Active transportation planning considers walking, biking, scootering, transit and parking lot connections, and any other non-motorized means. Keep an eye out for ways to get engaged in the near future. More information can be found on the project website: www.ActiveKearnsMagna.com.

The Kearns and Magna Active Transportation Plans were funded by Wasatch Front Regional Council’s Transportation and Land Use Connection grant. Avenue Consultants was awarded the plans, and completion is anticipated by December of 2022.

THE EMPRESS THEATER IN MAGNA PRESENTS:
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is the story of Belle, a beautiful and intelligent young woman who feels out of place in her provincial French village. When her father is imprisoned in a mysterious castle, Belle’s attempt to rescue him leads to her capture by the Beast, a grisly and fearsome monster, who was long ago trapped in his gruesome form by an enchantress. The only way for the Beast to become human once again is if he learns to love and be loved in return. There is a time limit, too: once a magical rose loses all of its petals, all hope will be lost and he will stay a Beast forever. The Beast’s enchanted household--populated by such beloved characters as Mrs. Potts, Lumiere, Cogsworth, and Chip--watch anxiously as Belle and the Beast grow to understand and befriend one another. Their feelings grow ever deeper as the clock ticks and petals continue to fall off the enchanted rose--will they confess their love for one another before it is too late?
