Thoughts with Pastor Matt

When we really take stock in all that God has given us, we will see the truth in just so much we really have to be thankful for, that we will be overflowing with thankfulness! Gratitude has the amazing power to reshape our hearts and mind!

This weeks message

All I Want for Christmas is…

The statement, “All I want for Christmas…” is iconic in our culture, maybe even clenched.  And at least a part of the reason is that it taps into a truth, into the longing of our hearts.  I think many people have lifted prayers to God that began with, “All I want for Christmas…”  And those prayers run the gambit.  But along the way this phrase runs into the confusion we often have about our wants versus our true needs.  With this series, we will seek to walk through the Advent and Christmas seasons focusing on the fact that at Christmas God’s desire is not to fulfill all our wants, but to meet the true needs of our hearts, the greatest of which is Jesus!

Nov. 28           “All I Want for Christmas is Hope” (Mary)
Luke 1:26-38 & Titus 2:11-14
An angel appeared to Mary with the news that she would bear a child, Jesus the Messiah, God himself, who showed up in this world bringing hope!  At Christmas, we have a lot of wants and wishes, but Jesus brings us the hope we really need!

The City Center has completely changed my life, without the support and guidance we received I don’t know how far we would have made it, or if I would have made it this far. I have learned so much about hope and faith that I know that no matter what, God has a plan for me and anything is possible with him in our lives Richard Winder, City Center Resident & happy Dad

We are blessed with the support we receive from our local community of churches.  Please remember us this holiday season.  We provide support and shelter for Ventura County homeless families with children under 12 for up to 2 years.  We have been 100% successful with 272 graduates free from debt and all government assistance and never returning to homelessness. From now until 25th December 2021 an anonymous donor is providing $1:$1 match funding (up to $50,000).  Make a donation - no amount is too small - and a matching gift of the same amount will be made in your honor.  Every dollar donated is instantly doubled.  You can make a difference in people's lives.  www.gofundme.com/thecitycenter

It is a time of great hope for us.  We know the need is great – over 5,694 homeless children in Ventura County alone, but we also know that with your help we can rise to the challenge.

Please reach out to me at 805 302 7711 with any questions

Blessings,
