Celebration of The Week
The North Viking Army JROTC Precision 3 position Air Rifle Team placed 2nd in the Colorado State Championship at Fountain / Fort Carson High School on Saturday 20 November beating 4 other teams. Our Very own Mark Semien placed 3rd overall and Danika Fitzgerald placed 7th overall individually in the precision class. Luis Ruano-Gonzales shot 10th out of 96 individually in the sporter class. Cheer on your Viking marksmanship team as they shoot in the Rocky Mountain Regional Championship tomorrow December 3rd.

North Staff Holiday Gift Giving!
If you enjoy giving holiday gifts to your child or children's teachers, but are at a loss about what to do now that your kids are in high school and have several teachers, we can help! North High is collecting funds to purchase gift cards for every single teacher and staff member at North, well over 200 folks. Any amount is greatly appreciated and this is completely optional. All funds donated will be used to purchase gift cards from local, North Denver businesses to every teacher and staff member. If you are interested, you can donate via:

Log into https://myportal.dpsk12.org to access your student’s grades and attendance. By clicking on All Apps and Schoology, you can see specific assignments for where students are at. Please work with your student to focus on finishing the semester strong!
COVID-19 Update
Our amazing nursing team is diligently working to support all students related to health, specifically related to COVID-19 and we have THE BEST TEAM! This week we have 6 positive cases identified. We will notify any impacted by COVID-19 at North, so you can rest assured that you will be kept in the loop!
If your student has any symptoms, please keep them at home and notify our attendance team in any of the following ways:
Families can call the clinic - 720.423-2718 if they have COVID-related questions. Please encourage your student to receive their vaccine if they haven’t yet, click here to find the closest vaccination center.
Eating in Classrooms
To ensure that we continue to remain open for in-person learning and limit the impact of COVID-19, students will not be able to eat in classrooms. Students can continue to drink water from water bottles, but any snacks will need to be eaten quickly during passing periods. If your student needs accommodation to eat more frequently, please reach out to scott_wolf@dpsk12.net. We just want to do everything that we can to keep everyone safe.
Saturday School
Students needing extra support can attend Saturday school on 12/4 and 12/11. These are the last 2 Saturdays of the semester where students have the opportunity to access extra support. Please encourage your student to attend Saturday school from 8:30 am to 11:30 am in the cafetería if they need additional class support or a focused place with reliable internet to engage in learning.
Finals Week - December 13 - December 17
All grades become final on Friday, December 17. Grades at this time will roll to transcripts. Students need to do everything they can to demonstrate learning and earn credit for their scheduled courses if they want to graduate on-time.
- Mon Dec 13 - Even Period Finals
- Tues Dec 14 - Odd Period Finals
- Wed Dec 15 - All students failing courses must attend
- Thu Dec 16 - All students failing courses must attend
- Fri Dec 17 - Individualized support arranged on a case by case basis

Comfort Dental annually sponsors a "free dental care day" during the holiday season. This year they will be providing free dental care on December 23rd from 7:30 am - 11 am on a first come first serve basis.

College and Career Corner
The window for students to apply for the ASCENT program is now open! ASCENT is an excellent way for students to receive a free year of college at one of our 8 participating colleges and universities, saving time and money toward a degree. ASCENT is a great option for students who will have 12 or more college credits by graduation, earned through CE/CTE courses and CLEP, AP, and IB exams.
Schedule time for students to learn more about ASCENT! Although only seniors apply, all students can learn about the ASCENT program and begin earning credits toward eligibility. Email Dalia_Lopez@dpsk12.org or Kelly_Gilmore@dpsk12.org to schedule an in-person session at your school! The deadline to apply for ASCENT is March 1, 2022.
