"After me will come one more powerful than I, so much greater that I'm not even worthy to stoop down and untie the straps of his sandals. I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit" Mark 1: 7-8 (NLT)

Advent is such a wonderful time of expectation.
John the Baptist increased this sense of expectation as he here describes Jesus, who will baptize those who believe in Him not only with water but also with His Holy Spirit.

As we prepare again to celebrate the first coming of Jesus, let us also be preparing for his second coming and be open to His Spirit filling us in unexpected ways over these coming days. His Holy Spirit is being continuously poured out upon all of His people since that first Pentecost. His Holy Spirit is the transforming presence of God in our lives enabling us to become more like Christ and for Christ to be seen in the world.

Come Lord Jesus.

Come Holy Spirit.

Rector of St Mary's Bletchley

MAKE A DIFFERENCE
St Mary's depends on your generosity to make all we do possible. From helping our local community to helping mission partners around the world; to running groups for children to hosting a group for our older people to meet together - none of it would be possible without your kindness.

The most cost-effective way to make your offering is through our Parish Giving Scheme, but one-off donations can also be made online or in person. To find out more please click here or email nicky.whitmore@stmarysbletchley.org

Consider the packaging of the gifts you buy.
Can the packaging be recycled?
How much of it will go straight in the bin?
