Computer Science - HS Online Course

Needing help meeting the upcoming Computer Science requirements?  We have you covered!

As per HF 2629, all High schools (grades 9-12) must offer at least one high-quality one-semester course beginning July 1, 2022 (Iowa Code § 256.11(5)”l”).  AEA Learning Online offers The Art of Computer Science: Advanced Concepts for High School Students.  This self-paced course meets the computer science high school requirement in HF 2629.  And best of all, it is free for Iowa schools, and your students can have access as soon as today!

Access the course here.

The course will introduce students to computer science concepts, such as: computer systems, computer hardware, software, algorithms, programming fundamentals, Boolean logic, data structures, looping, algorithm efficiency, functions and recursion, sorting and searching, text encoding and cryptography, databases and networking. The course can be offered in a self-paced manner, or can supplement a project-based approach to learning.

For a full look at what is included, as well as other commonly asked questions, visit our overview brochure here

We will continue to have updates on this Computer Science offering over the next few months.  Coming at the end of December will be a teacher guide companion, which will include details on how the content specifically supports Iowa’s Computer Science Standards and showcase different options on how to leverage the online course with students.

Have additional needs to meet this requirement, such as needing an instructor as well?  Contact Evan Abbey, and he will help you understand all the options available.

Self-Paced Algebra 2 Course

Computer Science is not all.  We also have our Algebra 2 course available.  It too is available in a self-paced format, and this one features individual modules that can be taken separately or as a whole.

All course content has been designed through the lens of the Iowa Core.  Like the Computer Science course, teachers can customize content to extend the curriculum, for additional ways to strengthen the connection.

Find out more about the content, including links to each individual module, at our overview brochure here.
