Visit York Tourism Conference 2022, sponsored by LNER, returns on Thursday 13th January at York Racecourse. Join us at this unmissable tourism event as we look ahead to 'tourism in a post-pandemic world' with speakers from VisitBritain, Group NAO, Glasgow Convention Bureau and more. Hosted by BBC's Clare Frisby, with an introduction from Make It York's Sarah Loftus, tickets are free for Visit York members.

Please join us in welcoming our new Managing Director, Sarah Loftus. Previously Chief Executive of Lincoln Business Improvement Group, Sarah joins us with a wealth of experience and has lived part-time in York for many years. Sarah has big plans for tourism in York and is looking forward to hearing what our members want from Make It York moving forwards.

York Christmas Festival is in full swing across the city, with the return of St Nicholas Fair until 23rd December. Our virtual Christmas market is also live on visityork.org to bring the magic of St Nicholas Fair into homes across the country. Our York Christmas Guide is also now available for pick up from the VIC. Find out more

We have a number of one-hour slots available on 14 December and 25 January for Online Membership Healthchecks. Book a one-to-one slot with a member of our team to find out how to make the most out of your Visit York membership.
In the next couple of weeks, we'll be sending out details on some improvements we have made to the Business log-in for your Visit York website pages. You can watch this tutorial video to find out more about the changes, covering how to update and get the most out of your pages.

Visit York Members Events

Enjoy a mince pie and a festive glass of mulled wine at All Saints North Street on Thursday 9 December. Discover the church's unique stained glass with a short talk from Dr Robert Richards, and find out about the National Heritage Lottery Fund project to restore the windows and create a fantastic visitor experience for York residents and tourists. Squeeze the most out of your Visit York pages with our Visit York website training session on 19th January from 1.30pm. This virtual event will cover editing your page, best practices, uploading media and how to include special offers and events. There will be an opportunity for a Q&A at the end of the session. Book your place here. 
On Friday 4th February, join us at Middletons Hotel for the exclusive launch event for York Ice Trail 2022. There'll be an opportunity to get a first-look preview at one of the sculptures, canapes, fizz and a York Gin bar. Space for this one is limited, so please RSVP early to secure your place. 
 

When was the last time you visited one of the oldest and best preserved guild halls in Europe? Join us on 9th February in the stunning surroundings of York's Merchant Adventurers' Hall and talk to some of the city's independent merchants who will be showcasing their products and letting you sample a delicious selection of beers, oils, coffee and more! York News

After last year's postponement, we're delighted that the Rugby League World Cup 2021 rescheduled York fixtures have now been announced. A year later than planned, 2022 will be an exciting year as York's LNER Community Stadium will host eight women's matches including the semi-final double-header. Tickets are on-sale now.  
City of York Council and North Yorkshire Police has been notified about a planned protest which is to take place in the city centre. The protest will involve a march which will start and end at York Minster and is due to start at 1pm. Following North Yorkshire Police's agreement to a route for the protest march, City of York Council has confirmed a temporary traffic order will be in place from 13:30 to 15:30 on Saturday 4th December. More here.
A note to our members that the Visitor Information Centre on Museum Street will be closing for Christmas on 24th December and will reopen on Monday 3rd January. There's still time to stock up on unique Christmas gifts with your 10% member discount on all purchases. 
 
City of York Council have announced a new grant scheme. The Business Growth Voucher scheme provides eligible (small or micro) York-based businesses with a voucher of up to £1,000 to help pay for services and expertise from other York suppliers.
