SALTO Awards – Spotlight on the Winners

Late in 2021, the SALTO Awards shone a spotlight on some of the most inspirational youth projects around. Five exceptional winners were selected from nearly 150 nominees. Check out the winners in each category below. There's a clickable video for each winning project.

SALTO Awards 2021 Winner: Green Steps
“One man’s trash can be another man’s treasure.” Young people in Madeira (Portugal) are turning urban trash into huge art installations in an inspirational environmental project, Green Steps, which won the Environment & Climate Action category of the SALTO Awards.

SALTO Awards 2021 Winner: Reimagining Recognition
Badges which could open doors to education and employment! Reimagining Recognition – the winner in the Digital Transformation category of SALTO Awards, is an open digital badge system designed to recognise and validate the activities and competencies of young people and youth workers.

SALTO Awards 2021 Winner: DigiYouth
Young minorities at risk of marginalisation in Armenia were targeted by "Digi Youth". Through digital empowerment, this project raised up the voices of young people in Armenia, especially minorities and those living in remote regions. Learn more about this inspirational project, the winner of SALTO Awards in the Media & Information Literacy category.

SALTO Awards 2021 Winner: For The Active Life of Deaf Seniors
The online world can be baffling and alienating for older people, even more so those with hearing difficulties. Check out this winning project in the Solidarity & Volunteering category of SALTO Awards! "For the Active life of Deaf Seniors" was ran by a group of deaf millennials who organised training sessions for older deaf people in online banking and other digital services.

SALTO Awards 2021 Winner: Safer Cities for Girls in Belgium and Spain
Cities designed by and for men? Not anymore! "Safer Cities For Girls in Belgium and Spain" – winner of the Youth Participation category of SALTO Awards – set out to achieve safe streets and cities for girls and women in urban areas by combating street harassment.

Join us for a new version of the ID Talks on the topic of “Shaping Inclusion and Diversity”! How to implement youth projects that are more inclusive, diverse and reflect the ID Strategy? Get inspiration from online sessions taking place every other Wednesday, at 1PM CET, from 23 February until 20 April. We connect for approximately 90 minutes with inspiring guest speakers for thought-provoking insights, discussions in small groups and Q&A.

European Commission Launches Communication Guidelines for Beneficiaries


The European Commission has launched a: “A step-by-step guide on communicating projects and their results”. This guide aims to support beneficiaries of Erasmus+, European Solidarity Corps and Creative Europe programmes in their communication activities. Made up of five sections, organised in chronological steps, the guide walks you through all the actions needed.
