PTO: Stuff to Do This Week!

  • Dear Elm Families that ordered special lunch on 12/16-Panera: Due to Panera not being able to handle our lunch order last week we will not be moving forward with using them again as it disrupted the school day.  Therefore, if you ordered Panera for Thursday 12/16, we have cancelled that order and you will be receiving a credit in your account with Marla’s  to use next time you order.  We are currently working on the lunch ordering schedule for 2022 so there will be plenty of dates to use the credit.

Please note there will be NO special lunch on Thursday 12/16, so please make sure to adjust your calendar and send a lunch with your child that day.

Thank you, any questions please send to: speciallunch@elmschoolpto.org

  • Last few days to December 3rd to Order anything from the Charleston Wrap fundraiser. Looking for wrapping paper?  Their value packs are a great deal for wonderful paper for holidays and other special occasions!

Dressing for the Weather:

As the weather changes, please make sure your child has the appropriate outdoor clothing. The children will be going outside daily for mask break and recess unless it is raining or less than 10 degrees (including wind chill). Please label all coats, gloves, and hats with your child’s name.

Notification of Advance Absence:

The school calendar is established in advance. While we realize the value of family time, the planning of vacations while school is in session is strongly discouraged. In the event that students will be absent from school due to vacation, parents must complete the absence notification form and return it to school before the absence. Assignments, including completion dates, will be given after the absence, as determined by the teacher. Thank you for your cooperation.

Bowser Behavior Expectations:

Last week Elm School students participated in our Bowser Behavior Expectations program. Staff talked with students about how to be Respectful, Safe, and Kind in our school environment. Students participated in discussions about positive bulldog behavior at lunch/recess, in hallways, the playground, and in the bathrooms.

In addition, all students participated in the team building and conflict resolution lessons taught by our School Social Worker. We discussed the importance of kindness and the role we play in making Elm School a positive and welcoming place.

We hope you can continue these conversations with your students at home.

NEW GAGA PIT AT ELM!!!

Thank you to the parents that participated in last year's spring fundraiser!  With some of those funds, the Elm School PTO purchased a GaGa Ball Pit for Elm School, which has now been installed.  Come check it out!

What is GaGa Ball?  Gaga is a game that has many names like Gaga, Gaga Ball and Octo-ball.  Whatever you call it – Gaga is a form of dodgeball that originated in Israel in the 1970s and spread when Israeli counselors brought the game to summer camps around the world. Players start in a “pit”, an octagon shaped court, hitting and rolling the ball with their hand to eliminate other players. When players are hit below the waist, they are out, but players can always re-enter the game by catching a ball from the sidelines.

This new addition to the play ground will be dedicated to two of our recent retired teachers Ms. Sanders and Ms. Nawa for their many years of service to the students at Elm school.
