Aero Club Communique November 2021 #1

Just as we have had 2 months of a reduced lockdown level, here comes another variant to upset the apple cart, and to boot just because SA has one of the best medical laboratory capabilities, the variant gets a SA label again, with knee jerk reactions of flight bans almost immediately being applied. the madness of over reactions continue...., at least sensible lockdown restrictions changes made, with a call to get vaccinated as the best defence to getting ill and allowing the virus to mutate.

We are preparing for membership renewal season for 2022, and our renewal website will be open on 1 December for 2022 memberships. If you are not a member and wish to join the Aero Club and any of its Sections feel free to do so member-renewals-and-new-memberships

The South African Civil Aviation Authority has published the Twenty First Amendment to the Civil Aviation Regulations 2021. These regulations have been promulgated by Minister Fikile Mbalula. We have found and are receiving feedback on numerous errors, some of which substantially change the intended meaning of the regulations compared to what was agreed and sent for promulgation by members. If you were part of the CARcom process and have noted discrepancies, please be in contact with the Aero Club in this regard for it it be addressed.

Progress is being made on our on-line ATF renewal system, which is now in an extensive testing phase, we expect to start rolling it it out to the wider aviation community in December.

Members are to take note of the recent General Aviation Notice related to Introductory flights released by the CAA as per the link below, the Aero Club will continue to review the imposed restrictions deemed impractical with the CAA.

Our Centenary Yearbook is now fully available to purchase (see advert below) from our new webshop www.aeroclub.org.za/shop. The Aero Club have decided to cancel the annual awards function - this being the 2nd year in a row, as very little Protea competition activity has taken place, we should have a much better year in 2022.
