Migration Policy and Practice: Sector Assessment 2021
A new report detailing the challenges affecting integration for migrants in the region has just been released. It has been produced by Migration Policy and Practice, a funded project working with voluntary sector groups across Birmingham and the Black Country to enhance strategic understanding and coordination. The Project is also leading on developing a regional network of VCS groups that support migrants that can develop responses and solutions to key issues.

Embedding the Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector into Birmingham and Solihull’s Integrated Care System (ICS)- Kick off meetings taking place in December!
From today, we will be holding 5 kick-off meetings for the different areas of Birmingham to explore how the Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector will be embedded into Birmingham and Solihull's Integrated Care System (ICS). As part of the sessions, we will provide an update on developments of the ICS, the aim of this programme and developing a VCFSE alliance for Birmingham and Solihull. Organisations and groups only need to attend one session, depending on where they are based.

BVSC Kickstart Update
Since September 2021 when our final roles went live within Job Centres across the region, BVSC Kickstart have successfully filled 50% of Kickstart vacancies. With the end of the Kickstart scheme now extended to March 2022, we are aiming to fill all vacancies before the scheme comes to an end. Our current Kickstart vacancies are now available to view on the BVSC jobs page.

Bidding for Business - Birmingham City Council
This consultation has been designed to obtain information on the degree to which procurement information, platforms and services are working well for potential suppliers and any areas suppliers feel may benefit from improvement where possible. Birmingham City Council are always looking for ways to improve how suppliers to do business with the Council and would like to seek feedback in order to consider any potential changes or improvements.
The closing date for this survey is 31st December.

Birmingham City Centre Public Space Protection Order Consultation
Anti-social behaviour in and around the City Centre of Birmingham is causing significant concerns for local residents, businesses as well as those visiting the City and surrounding areas. As part of the partnership approach towards tackling the issues, it has been decided to apply for a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO).

Social Enterprise Support Fund
The National Lottery Community Fund has just announced that a second round of funding in grant support is being made available through its Social Enterprise Support Fund, which began last year. Its aim is assist to social enterprises that have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

Launched with Arts Council England, Pears Foundation and NHS Charities Together, the Volunteering Futures Fund aims to help people access more volunteering opportunities across a range of sectors including the arts and sport.

John Lewis Partnership announces fund for circular economy projects

Employment and Skills Weekly Lunchtime Webinar

The main theme of next week’s webinar will be tools used with clients to support their employment and skills development. In previous sessions the importance of personalisation and tailoring delivery to the needs of the client has been highlighted as part of good employment and skills practice. The webinar will be considering this further. The session will also look at an employment support programme for women who have experienced domestic abuse, which should have been covered in last week’s session.
