A Message from Our Vice President

This time of year has many of us reflecting on the things in our lives for which we are thankful and counting our blessings. Reservoir Boosters wants to share our gratitude for our amazing community. After 18 months of uncertainty, we can confidently say that Reservoir students are thriving back at school. We had an incredible fall season with 375 students participating on a sports team and approximately 600 students involved one of Reservoir's 50 clubs. Even more impressive, over 1000 students made Honor Roll first quarter (GPA of 3.0 or higher). And if you haven't heard, the girls volleyball team won States!! We also had stellar performances from the Golf and Cross Country teams with many athletes making to state and national finals. The marching band honored all of these student-athletes with an in-school parade, perhaps the best illustration of the sense of pride and community students have at Reservoir. We love our gators!

We couldn’t do this without all of YOU!

We rely on the patronage of our community and it has been extraordinary; to date we have raised over $13,000 from corporate sponsors. Please take note of the banners hung in the main gym and stadium and show these business some love. Also, thanks to everyone who worked concessions during the fall season; as of October 31st, we grossed a whopping $17,000 and netted $8,000. Gettie Kramer deserves so much gratitude for the many hours she has spent managing concessions.

What do we do with all of this money? Spend it directly on student activities! So far we have been able to:

•Fund a student fan bus to attend the Volleyball State Finals
•Purchase new equipment for concessions (refrigerators and hot dog rollers)
•Purchase new equipment for the Tech Ed department
•Purchase a new John Deere Gator (https://www.deere.com/en/gator-utility-vehicles/turf-gators/)vehicle to be used by athletic managers and training staff during practices and games
•Purchase a rebounder that will be used for basketball season and summer camps
•Invest in improvements to the baseball and softball fields
•Purchase new uniforms for Girls and Boys Basketball, Girls Soccer, and Girls Volleyball
•Pay for over $4,000 in activity and tournament fees (such as the Maryland Science Olympiad)

It is not too late to join boosters and get involved. Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook and check out our website for volunteer opportunities.

Dylan Bradford - Boys Varsity Soccer

Dylan is a leader on the Boys Varsity Soccer Team on and off the field; and this isn't just in regard to soccer. He does lead on the field with his play. I am biased, but I have not seen a better player in his position this season. Dylan is a commanding Center Back who makes the position look effortless, but it is not. Defense is not always the part of the field that people get excited for, but Dylan makes that area exciting. Dylan is also a leader off the field and an outstanding student. I am hoping his influence is felt on the team for years to come in regard to his academic achievements.

Dylan will be missed next year by his teammates and his coaches.

Coach Nicholas Valenti

Speech and Debate Club

The RHS Speech and Debate team is a competitive team who competes against both public and private schools throughout central Maryland. We boast the best Lincoln Douglas debate program in the area and have been one of the top two debate and speech programs in the region for the past two years. Our students compete in six regular season tournaments leading to district, state and national competition. Four of our debaters were among the top debaters in the country last year including one who was ranked in the top 8 nationwide! We teach critical research, note taking and speaking skills.

The speech team meets Mondays online and the Debate team meets Tuesdays and Fridays in Media. No prior experience is necessary.
