The word for Advent One is "hope." What does the term hope conjure up for you? We hope for so many things, the call that we got the job; the baby we longed for has been conceived; we are healed of an infirmity. What are you hoping for this Advent season? How will you prepare your heart for His birth?

Christmas flowers are an excellent way to honor a loved one. If you would like to contribute this Christmas season, click on the link below send information to the church office. We are asking for a donation of $20 this year. You may drop your donation in the alms basin or mail a check to EEC.

This past weekend, the Rockford Choral Union presented Handel's Messiah. They were fortunate to have Tamara Ross, and Cathy Ritts in their choir and Trish Rooney on the organ bench.

This year the special holiday meal for our soup kitchen guests at the Jubilee Center falls right on Christmas day. We realize this might be a conflict for some of the volunteers who have participated in this annual tradition in the past. So, we are putting out a request to everyone to see who will be able to help on Saturday, Dec. 25. New volunteers are welcome! There will be different volunteer shifts: food prep & set-up from 9:30-11:30 am, serving meals from 11:30 am-1:30 pm, and clean-up from 12:30-2 pm. Please contact Tammy Lewis or John Birnbaum if you can help (Tammy at 815 601-8612 / mstam7@aol.com; John at 815 209-6822 / jrbirnbaum@aol.com). Thank you!
