There’s a brutal beauty about the cold. There's no avoiding its transformative force, how green earth becomes white, snowy desert. At night, the winds howl and we wonder where the wildlife went. At dawn, we wake up to new tracks in the snow. We sip hot drinks on the warmer side of the window - cozy and comfortable - beside a crackling fire, book in hand.
In this edition of the “Write Now,” we’re writing from that same “warmer side of the window.” We’re looking out at all of the world-class programs coming to our creative community in 2022.
Our mission at Write On has always been to make great arts programs more accessible to all people, and it’s for that reason that we’re offering early-bird discounts on all of our major events for 2022. First up is Diane Wilson’s prose Master Class, titled, “Telling True Stories: Memoir to Fiction” January 24-28, followed by our Young Writers Conference, March 18-19.
Additionally, we have exciting news to share about a grant Write On, Door County received from the Women’s Fund of Door County! It’s a fantastic (and FREE) opportunity for the women in our community who are interested in writing, but might not have had access (or time) until now.
And last, but certainly not least, you’ll find information about the peninsula’s newest piece of literature - the 8142 Review - a showcase of writing and photography from the Peninsula Pulse and Write On, Door County. In these pages, you will find stories about family, farmlands and addictions, love affairs and ailing hearts, and photos capturing moments in time and stories untold.
We encourage you to stop by the Writing Center sometime soon to get a glimpse of what 2022 looks like from our side of the window.
Warmly,
|
