1. Yukon Heritage Training Fund Feedback Survey
YHMA is seeking feedback to improve our administration of Yukon Heritage Trainging Fund (HTF) and ensure that it aligns with the current needs of Yukon heritage sector workers and employers. Your responses will assist us in maximising the usefulness and accessibility of the fund.
The survey should take around 5-10 minutes. Some questions will be skipped depending on your responses. If you have any questions, please contact Lianne Maitland, Fund Administrator, at info@heritageyukon.ca or 867-667-4704.

2. The Great Stocking Experiment – The Santa Hypothesis
Date & Time: December 4-6, 2022, 12-4:30 pm
Location: Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre
Head to Beringia Centre to pick up your stocking kit on December 4, 5, and 6 from 12-4:30 pm. Decorate it at home – and send them a picture of your stylish stocking. Then on Christmas Eve, they will deploy a couple large stockings in the Centre along with some strategically placed high tech equipment. And, if the stockings get filled – they will of course…carefully investigate the scene with the latest forensic techniques, and draw names to see who gets the full stockings. Learn more

4. Creative and Cultural Industries Strategy Released
The Government of Yukon has released Creative Potential: Advancing the Yukon’s Creative and Cultural Industries, a 10-year strategy to support the growth and development of the creative and cultural industries in the Yukon.
This strategy is the first of its kind for the Yukon. It lays out a long-term vision and 22 actions to help achieve the sector’s full potential. It builds on current government supports and maps out an inclusive, collaborative plan that offers a solid foundation from which creative and cultural activity can flourish, honours commitments to reconciliation and propels the sector further on national and global stages. 5. Public Engagement – Permanent Paid Sick Leave
The Making Work Safe Panel wants to hear how permanent paid sick leave should be introduced for Yukoners. The need for permanent paid sick leave has become greater than ever before. Without adequate sick leave, many workers have limited options when deciding to go to work sick or stay home.

6. Culture Quest Intake Deadline
Application Deadline: January 15, 2022
The Culture Quest Fund, supported by the Yukon Government and administered by the Klondike Institute of Arts & Culture (KIAC), annually provides project funding to inspire the growth of culture and arts in the Yukon by supporting projects that develop cultural heritage crafts and skills, as well as the visual, literary and performing arts. It also supports First Nations cultural gatherings and festivals around the Yukon. Applicants may request up to $10,000 in funding. Learn more

7. 2021-2022 Call for nominations: Inscriptions to the Canada Memory of the World Register
Deadline for Declarations of Interest: January 5, 2022
In collaboration with its Canadian Advisory Committee for Memory of the World the Canadian Commission for UNESCO (CCUNESCO) is pleased to launch the fourth Call for Nominations for inscriptions on the Canada Memory of the World Register.
This Register recognizes significant documentary heritage related to Canada and its peoples and is one of the vehicles of the UNESCO Memory of the World Program, which aims at preserving and providing access to documentary heritage as the embodiment of the memory of humanity.
In recognition of the United Nations International Decade for People of African Descent 2015-2024 and the upcoming Decade of Indigenous Languages, CCUNESCO extends a special call for documentary heritage related to Black Canadians with the goal of increasing awareness of this community's diverse cultures, history, and contributions to Canadian society. Documentary heritage submissions include photography, art, audiovisual, artifacts and even unique objects.
CCUNESCO continues to extend a special call for proposals for documentary heritage related to Indigenous languages and cultures. Many are considered to be endangered, and their preservation, strengthening and revitalization are of crucial importance to Indigenous peoples and to Canadian society. Learn more

The ECE program provides content ranging from strategy development to practical tools and tips - all designed to help grow and adapt your organization as a tourism operator and build tourism capacity in your region as a destination partner. This webinar where we will review best practices when undertaking a digitization project. Hear from speakers Kat Louro (Carrier Sekani Tribal Council Archives) and Mandy Kilsby and Tom Dombowsky (Barkerville Historic Town & Park), who will present digitization case studies with highlights of their challenges and successes and learn from the unexpected stumbling blocks they experienced. Kayla Larson will talk about the Indigitization project and the range of digitization resources that are available along with community protocols and access points that should be considered when working with and digitizing Indigenous records.
