Ashala is an energetic, vibrant spirit who lights up any room she enters. After a loss in the family and grappling with the isolation of remote learning, Ashala found her voice through making art. At The Crucible, she had access to a support system and a creative outlet when she needed it most.
This past summer, Ashala returned to the studio for our four-week Fuego Youth Leadership Program, where she fell in love with ceramics. Her final project was a multifaceted, complex ceramic sculpture titled “Split Personalities.” It helped Ashala process the last year and tell her story when words were not enough.
