NEW EXHIBIT

Can you name the famous artist who motivated this imaginative new work? All the artists featured this month in the hallways of Orinda Library have been "Inspired by the Greats." In this new exhibit by the Lamorinda Arts Council, 35 artists from the Lamorinda Arts Alliance honor their creative influences in 80 pieces representing a range of media including paintings, stoneware, sculpture, and more. In the photomontage above, Alys Briggs pays "Homage to Vermeer." The exhibit will run Dec. 2-31. Meet the artists at a reception, Saturday, Dec. 4, 3-5pm at Orinda Library.

MAYOR'S PROCLAMATION

Orinda Library held the spotlight November 16 when Mayor Amy Worth took a moment during the City Council meeting to read a proclamation honoring the 20th Anniversary of the "New" Orinda Library. The proclamation begins, "Whereas a community library has been a central element in Orinda's intellectual life since the first circulating book collection was established in 1915 ..." For the full text, stop by Orinda Library and ask to see the proclamation.
