Announcing a portfolio review
with THE LINE

We are coming to the end of our portfolio reviews but are so excited to announce this last session we will be partnering with the incredible studio that is The Line !!

A little intro from them:
The Line is an independent animation studio based in London. We love crafting beautiful animation in the service of interesting ideas. With each new project we do our best to push our skills and creativity to new heights, whilst always striving to create a healthy environment for the team, and the wider animation community.

We specialise in delivering high quality 2D animation for commercials, music videos and games. Our clients include Riot Games, Gorillaz, Mercedes Benz, and Chobani. In addition to this we have put out our own self-initiated projects such as “The Grand Mighty Piton” and “Amaro and Walden’s Joyride”.

These online review sessions are aimed at Black women and Women of Colour who want advice developing their portfolios to advance their careers. We’re focusing on Black women and women of colour as there is a noticeable lack of diversity and representation in the animation industry, and we hope that this resource will in some small way go to addressing it. The hope is that the women applying to our sessions will gain advice that will potentially improve opportunities for future employment.

This session will be taking place on the 19th of January and will be hosted by the phenomenal team at The Line. They’ll be offering their wisdom on how to improve your portfolios and insights on what studios are looking for!!

This session is open to those who are:

  • Based in the UK
  • Aged 18 or Over
  • A Black woman or Woman of Colour
If you’re interested in taking part in our reviews, please register your interest here by the 9th of December. Successful applications will be informed by end of day on the 15th of December.

*Attendees are selected based on their eligibility, so please be assured if you don’t make it to this one, as this is not a reflection on the quality of your work.

Black and POC Database of Animators and Directors

We've created a database of Black and WOC animators/illustrators/directors here in the UK for anyone who’d like to put their information in there. Just a reminder that this list will be shared with studios and creatives who are looking to work with women on their projects, so only share information you feel comfortable being shared with studios.

We need to be more aware of being inclusive within our social circles at work and not just passing jobs onto people we already know. Having a good database of amazing women to reference we feel could really help that, so please pop your details on here. This database goes mainly to London based studios who more often than not request in-house teams, so if you live outside of London or are international, please fill in the “Available for remote work” section with your current city of residence.

Ways to get involved with She Drew That

Join our database of members
Our spreadsheet is a nice way to share your information with the Directors and Studios we work with, so we’d like to encourage our freelance members to share the type of work they’re available for. You can add your details here, but only what you’re comfortable sharing.

Join us on Slack
The Slack group is primarily a forum for sharing and critiquing work during the monthly challenge. We’d like to build it into a place where animators can share other personal projects, advice, technical questions and potential job opportunities.
